Brad Stevens shuts down exit rumors and reinforces stability as the Celtics enter a critical playoff push.

The Boston Celtics have been having a solid run when it comes to winning NBA awards.

Last week, Celtics star guard Derrick White won the NBA’s Sportsmanship Award for the 2025-26 NBA season. It was the second straight year that a Celtics player won the award, as it was claimed by then-Celtics guard Jrue Holiday last season.

This week, it’s an executive who has claimed some hardware.

Celtics’ Brad Stevens Named NBA Basketball Executive of the Year

Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens has been named the 2025-26 NBA Basketball Executive of the Year, the league announced.

This is the second time that Stevens has won the award, as he also received it following the 2023-24 NBA season. Stevens becomes just the 12th executive to win the award multiple times since it was first presented in 1972-73.

Stevens assembled a team that finished 56-26 in the 2025-26 regular season, the second-best record in the Eastern Conference.  The Celtics secured a top-two seed in the NBA Playoffs presented by Google for the fifth straight season, matching Stevens’ five seasons in his current role.

Before joining Boston’s front office, Stevens served as the team’s head coach for eight seasons.  During his 13-year tenure with the franchise, the Celtics have made 12 playoff appearances.

Per the league, the voting panel for the Executive of the Year Award consisted of basketball executives from NBA teams. So basically, Stevens was selected by his peers, which should make the victory extra meaningful.

Given Steven’ success in Boston, the Celtics should be worried about him potentially being poached by other organizations. But luckily for them, Stevens is extremely content in his role in Boston and he isn’t looking for a change of any kind.

“I like being here. They’ve been great to me, and I haven’t been seeking anything else. I’m not motivated to do anything but what I’m doing is the bottom line, and I’m really happy with the people we’re around and everything else,” Stevens said earlier this month.

“That’s been the best part about being here, and really, as you get to this age and stage, I think that’s the motivator for me. I don’t really have any other motivation than being around people that I want to be around.”

Stevens’ desire to remain in his role is the great news for the Celtics, because he’s objectively very good at it, and he now has not one, but two Executive of the Year Awards to show for it.
