Aaron Gordon handles the ball during a game as his status changes ahead of Game 3 for the Nuggets.

The Denver Nuggets could be facing a late complication ahead of a pivotal Game 3, as forward Aaron Gordon was downgraded on the injury report before Thursday’s matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Aaron Gordon Injury Status Shifts Before Nuggets vs Timberwolves Game 3

Gordon is now listed as questionable due to left calf tightness after initially being deemed probable, raising uncertainty about his availability as the series shifts to Minnesota.

The downgrade comes just hours before tipoff, and it remains unclear whether Gordon experienced a setback during the team’s morning shootaround or if the change reflects precautionary management ahead of a high-intensity playoff game.

If Gordon is ultimately ruled out, it would mark a significant development for Denver as it looks to regain control of the series.

Nuggets Could Turn to Bruce Brown if Aaron Gordon Sits

Gordon has been a steady presence through the first two games, averaging 12.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists while playing a key role on both ends of the floor.

His potential absence would likely force adjustments, with veteran guard Bruce Brown positioned as a leading candidate to absorb additional minutes and responsibility.

Brown has averaged 7.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists across the first two games of the series, providing energy and versatility off the bench. He has also shown the ability to step into a larger role when needed, averaging 13.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists in four starts during the regular season.

That flexibility could prove crucial if Denver is forced to adjust its rotation on short notice.

The Nuggets are already without wing Peyton Watson, who has been ruled out for an eighth consecutive game due to a left hamstring strain, further thinning their depth on the perimeter.

Nuggets vs Timberwolves Game 3 Stakes Continue to Rise

With the series tied 1-1, Game 3 represents a critical swing point between two evenly matched Western Conference teams.

Minnesota is coming off a Game 2 win behind a strong performance from Anthony Edwards, who helped fuel a comeback victory on the road.

Now back on their home floor, the Timberwolves will look to build momentum — and any uncertainty surrounding Gordon’s status could tilt the balance further in their favor.

Aaron Gordon’s Two-Way Impact Key for Denver

Gordon’s value extends beyond the box score, particularly in his defensive versatility and ability to match up against multiple positions.

He has been an important piece alongside Nikola Jokic, contributing as both a scorer and facilitator while helping anchor Denver’s defensive schemes.

Without Gordon, the Nuggets could face added pressure in containing Minnesota’s frontcourt, including Rudy Gobert and Julius Randle, while also needing to generate offense from other sources.

Game-Time Decision Looms for Nuggets Forward

For now, Gordon’s status remains uncertain heading into Game 3, with a final decision expected closer to tipoff.

In a tightly contested series where momentum has already shifted once, Denver will be hoping its veteran forward can play through the calf issue. If not, the Nuggets may need to rely on depth and lineup adjustments to remain competitive in a crucial road environment.

With the series hanging in the balance, Gordon’s availability could prove to be one of the defining factors in Game 3.
