The Indiana Pacers could emerge as a target for Giannis Antetokounmpo for the right offer. Bleacher Report posted an article forecasting the upcoming summer blockbuster trades involving names on the trade market. Antetokounmpo is expected to be the biggest name available from the Milwaukee Bucks, and every team with hopes of contending will have some level of interest in a move.

B/R provided the following trade pitch and an explanation, via trade expert Greg Swartz:

Indiana Pacers Receive: PF Giannis Antetokounmpo, F Kyle Kuzma

Milwaukee Bucks Receive: PF Pascal Siakam, G Andrew Nembhard, PF Jarace Walker, 2027 first-round pick (unprotected)

“Giannis Antetokounmpo would only have to relocate his family about four hours south, joining the team that came within one win of an NBA championship last summer. Tyrese Haliburton will be back next year and Ivica Zubac is already on board as the team’s new starting center.

Adding a two-time MVP in his prime to a core that also features Aaron Nesmith, Obi Toppin, T. J. McConnell, Kuzma and potentially the No. 1 overall pick in the draft would make the Pacers the best team in the East.”

The trade logic sees Indiana going “all in” next season by trading a couple of valuable assets in exchange for Giannis to upgrade their star power. A duo of Tyrese Haliburton and Antetokounmpo would easily make them one of the top Eastern Conference favorites.

Why Bucks Would Trade Giannis To Rival

The trade package is more about the immediate future than the long-term plan since the deal would only net them one draft pick. Milwaukee may need to find a path towards winning without Giannis since they don’t own the next few seasons’ draft picks.

Pascal Siakam and Andrew Nembhard would give the Bucks two “win now” pieces to improve the roster. Both names could help Milwaukee have a chance at the play-in race for a late playoff seed next season.

Jarace Walker and a 2027 first round draft pick would add some future assets to give the team hope for the future. However, the biggest flaw in this deal is that opposing teams will be willing to offer a lot of draft picks to land a two-time former MVP.

Pacers In Perfect Situation To Contend

Indiana made one of the most underrated trades of the season by acquiring center Ivica Zubac in exchange for expendable young scorer Bennedict Mathurin. The losing season sees the Pacers having a tie with two other teams for the strongest odds as the top pick.

Management somehow found a way to boost their odds for a top draft pick and added a respected center to replace Myles Turner, who they lost last offseason. Indiana has a strong starting five right now of Haliburton, Andrew Nembhard, Aaron Nesmith, Siakam and Zubac good enough to contend.

One more trade could raise the Pacers from a contender to the favorite in the Eastern Conference. However, the risk is also there to hurt the team chemistry by trading two or three players for one big name. Indiana must make the right move this summer or risk hurting their future chances at a title.
