“The Toronto Raptors announced Friday that forward Brandon Ingram underwent surgery to address his ongoing right heel pain. A heel spur was removed by Dr. Martin O’Malley at New York’s Hospital for Special Surgery. Ingram is expected to fully recover and be ready for training camp in September.

Ingram was named an all-star for the second time last season, averaging a team-high 21.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 33.8 minutes in 77 games (all starts).” via Raptors

During the Raptors’ seven-game series against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Ingram appeared in five games.

Due to his heel injury, the star forward missed the final two games of the postseason. The Raptors were eliminated by the Cavaliers in Game 7.

During Ingram’s five-game stretch, he saw the court for just under 30 minutes per game. He posted averages of 12.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. Ingram shot 32.8% from the field and knocked down 38.5% of his threes.

“It’s something that I’ve been dealing with since it flared up in March, and I had no time to rest it,” Ingram told reporters.

“We were trying to make the playoffs. Coming off last season and playing 18 games, I really prided myself on trying to be out there every single night. It got to a point–it got to a discomfort that–I couldn’t push off of it. I couldn’t do the things on the floor that I needed to do to be effective. Going out in Game 5 or Game 6, I went to the back, and I was trying to come back, and the medical staff kind of ruled me out because they were trying to save me from myself a little bit. That was frustrating. I definitely wanted to be out there with my team.”

The Raptors acquired Ingram via trade during the 2024-2025 NBA season. He was in the midst of his sixth season with the New Orleans Pelicans.

After seeing the court for 18 games, Ingram battled injuries throughout the year. After getting shipped off to Toronto, the standout forward sat out for the remainder of the season. His debut run with the Raptors included 77 appearances during the regular season.
