Knicks in 4? Fans’ Chants Take Over Game 2

New York Knicks stars react during Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The New York Knicks did not just take Game 2. Their fans took over the sound of the building.

In the final 20 seconds of ESPN’s broadcast, with the Knicks closing out a 109-93 win over the the Cleveland Cavaliers, “Knicks in 4” chants could be heard carrying over the airwaves. It was loud enough to become part of the game’s ending — not background noise, but the soundtrack to New York moving one win away from a sweep.

The chant landed because the math made it real. The Knicks’ Game 3 victory gave them a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals, putting Cleveland in a desperate situation  and giving New York fans every reason to lean into the moment.

Josh Hart led the Knicks with 26 points points. Mikal Bridges and Jalen Brunson each added 19 points to further cement the victory.

But the lasting image — or sound — was the crowd.

Knicks Fans Turned Game 2 Into a Road Celebration

This was supposed to be Cleveland’s chance to change the tone of the series. Instead, by the final possession, the home arena sounded like a Knicks watch party.

The “Knicks in 4” chant was not just a taunt. It was a statement about how far the series had tilted. New York had already protected home court. Then the Knicks went on the road, absorbed an early push and still left with a double-digit win.

That is the kind of result that changes a fanbase’s posture. Hope turns into expectation. Expectation turns into noise. And in this case, the noise made it onto the national broadcast.

For Knicks fans, that matters. This is a fanbase that has spent years waiting for a team good enough to justify the volume. Now, with Brunson controlling games and the supporting cast giving New York multiple ways to win, the confidence is not forced.

It is earned.

“Knicks in 4” Captured the Mood Around Brunson’s Team

The best chants are simple because they do not need much explanation. “Knicks in 4” says everything.

It says the Knicks believe this series is over. It says Philadelphia has not shown enough answers. It says New York fans are not just hoping to survive the round — they are already thinking about what comes next.

That can be dangerous territory for a team, but there is a difference between fan confidence and player complacency. The Knicks have not played like a group trying to fast-forward. They have played with the edge of a team that knows exactly how valuable a short series can be.

A sweep would mean rest. It would mean fewer injury risks. It would mean more time to prepare for the next matchup. It would also keep the emotional wave rolling around a team that has given Madison Square Garden — and now road arenas — something to roar about.

That is why the chant felt bigger than one clip. It was a playoff fanbase recognizing a moment before the final box score even went official.

One More Win Would Make the Chant Reality

The Knicks still have to finish the job. A 3-0 lead is commanding, but the cleanest version of this story requires one more win.

That is what gives the chant its edge. It is not a celebration of a completed sweep yet. It is a demand. Knicks fans saw their team take control of the series, then turned the final seconds of Game 3 into a challenge for Game 4.

For Philadelphia, that sound had to sting. For New York, it was proof of how completely the night had flipped.

The Knicks walked into Game 3 needing to prove their first two wins could travel. They left with Brunson leading another playoff win, the 76ers facing elimination and New York fans loud enough to become part of ESPN’s closing seconds.

“Knicks in 4?” is still a question until the next game ends.

But after Game 3, Knicks fans made it sound less like a prediction and more like a plan.
