The Toronto Raptors came up short against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 5 of their first-round series matchup in the 2026 NBA Playoffs on Wednesday.

Six players scored in double digits for the Raptors, led by RJ Barrett, who had 25 points, 12 rebounds and five assists. Ja’Kobe Walter contributed 20 points, two assists and four steals, while Jamal Shead added 18 points and seven assists off the bench.

Scottie Barnes struggled in the second half, but he still finished with 17 points, eight rebounds, 11 assists and three blocks. Brandon Ingram was limited to just one point after injuring his heel in the second quarter.

Meanwhile, James Harden and Evan Mobley each scored 23 points for the Cavs in their 125-120 win.

Scottie Barnes Shares Update on His Injury

Barnes had a really good first half, scoring 14 points as the Raptors took a 74-67 lead at halftime.

However, Barnes injured his quad during a drive to the basket late in the second period. He told reporters after the game that it was probably from a bump by Thomas Bryant.

Despite not looking like himself in the second half, Barnes assured Raptors fans that he’ll be healthy and ready for Game 6 back at home in Toronto.

“I got hit on a drive going to the basket,” Barnes said, via The Athletic’s Esfandiar Baraheni. “Obviously, it had some effect. Couldn’t play with that same pace I was trying to play with. But I was just trying to play through it. Gotta be ready for Friday. … It’s nothing. I’ll be ready.”

Game 6 is scheduled for Friday at the Scotiabank Arena. The Raptors need a win to force a Game 7 back to Cleveland.

Brandon Ingram Injury Update

The Raptors suffered a huge injury blow in the second quarter when Ingram was ruled out for the rest of the game. He was diagnosed with an inflamed right heel, the same foot injury that caused him to miss three games in the final stretch of the regular season, as per ESPN’s Jamal Collier.

Ingram re-injured his foot after driving past Mobley. Coach Darko Rajakovic provided an update during his postgame media availability.

“He reaggravated the heel on one play,” Rajakovic said. “We tried to re-tape him. At halftime, he tried to activate to see if he could be ready for the second half, and he was not ready to come and play in the second half. Tomorrow we’ll know more when we do more evaluations.”

Ingram has been struggling against the Cavs, averaging just 14.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. He also made headlines after Game 1 for his comments about not getting enough touches.

His remarks didn’t backfire since his teammates and coaches defended him. The Raptors also won Games 3 and 4 in Toronto to even the series.

With Immanuel Quickley already out for the rest of the series, the Raptors need Barnes and Ingram to be healthy for Game 6 to keep their season alive.
