Draymond Green looks ahead.

When the Golden State Warriors missed the playoffs in 2026, it seemed like big changes could be coming.

During the final minutes of the failed battle for the eighth seed in the NBA Play-In Tournament, Steve Kerr huddled up with Steph Curry and Draymond Green to send them a message in case it was their final game together.

Kerr’s future was in question, as his contract expired. We know now that his time is not up. The head coach is back with the Warriors for two more years.

As far as Draymond Green goes, he has a personal decision to make. Warriors General Manager Mike Dunleavy addressed the veteran forward on Friday.

“Draymond’s got a player option, so the ball is in his court in terms of returning,” Dunleavy told reporters on Friday.

“I think we’ve had the discussions where we want him to finish his career as a Warrior, and he kind of feels the same way. I expect him to be back, but it’s his call on that.”

The 36-year-old forward has $27.6 million on the table. Green doesn’t have to make his decision until June 29. While picking up the option could still run the risk of him getting traded, the Warriors aren’t believed to have the mindset of parting ways with Green at this time. The Kerr return might’ve increased the chances of keeping Green even more as well.

Although Green doesn’t seem to have a chance of getting moved at this time, it doesn’t ean the Warriors won’t be active in the trade market. Dunleavy made it clear that the Warriors will be active in any market that could potentially make them better.

“As far as trade acquisition stuff, we’re probably always in the conversation because we have the draft capital to be,” he explained. “We’ll always look at stuff and whatever we can do to make the team better now and in the future.”
