OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA - MAY 20: Dylan Harper #2 of the San Antonio Spurs looks on during the first quarter of a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game Two of the NBA Western Conference Finals at Paycom Center on May 20, 2026 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

The San Antonio Spurs will have to wait until just before tipoff of Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder to have a final Dylan Harper injury update, according to the latest report.

Harper, the standout Spurs rookie, left Game 2 with a lower leg injury and did not return, despite being seen attempting to do so on the main television broadcast feed. Now, after officially being listed on the Spurs’ injury report as questionable, Harper will be a game-time decision for Friday night.

Along with Harper, De’Aaron Fox, who is dealing with an ankle injury, will also be a game-time decision for Game 3, as San Antonio still doesn’t have a final update on their two point guards.

According to Shams Charania of ESPN, Harper will be a game-time decison for Game 3 against the Thunder.

“San Antonio’s Dylan Harper will be a game-time decision tonight in Game 3 against the Oklahoma City Thunder after MRI showed an adductor injury, not a hamstring, sources tell ESPN. Harper is expected to go through his pregame routine to make a decision on his status,” the insider wrote in a post on X.

As Charania reported, Harper was thought to have suffered a hamstring injury in Game 2, which forced him out in the third quarter. However, listed on the Spurs’ injury report with an adductor strain, his status for Game 3 remains up in the air.

Harper has started for San Antonio in their first two games of the WCF against Oklahoma City due to Fox’s ankle injury, and while the Spurs still don’t have confirmation on the status of either heading into Friday night, they could be without two of their most important ball handlers as the series shifts back to Texas.

With the latest report, now Harper and Fox will be a game-time decision for the Spurs in Game 3. The official update on Harper is new, but according to previous news, and what head coach Mitch Johnson has said, Fox’s status will also come just before tipoff.

“De’Aaron Fox will be a game-time decision in Game 3,” Charania said on NBA Today. “It’s a high right ankle sprain that Fox is dealing with…We’ll see closer to Game 3, whether he’s able to play (or not).”

Fox has yet to play in the series after suffering an ankle injury in the conference semifinals against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He has been questionable and a game-time decision for the first two games of the Spurs vs Thunder series, and that is once again the case for Game 3.

“He’s just trying to play every day. It’s a tough injury that he wouldn’t be playing with in the regular season,” Johnson said on Fox after the Spurs’ Game 2 loss. “So he’s trying to tough it out, and he did that in Minnesota. Then he had an awkward landing and re-aggravated it, and we just gotta make sure that he’s in a place that he can be out there and compete to the level that he would need to in the game that we’re playing.”

The Spurs could see both Harper and Fox play, or both sit out, as dealing with injuries at a crucial point in the season, San Antonio needs their two main ball handlers, but also don’t want to risk further health concerns in this series and a potential NBA Finals series.

As for the Thunder, they have Jalen Williams listed as questionable for Game 3 after he picked up another hamstring injury on Wednesday night, with his game-time status still unknown.

Injuries already have, and likely will continue to play a part in the Western Conference Finals, but if the Spurs can get back at least one of their two point guards, it bodes well for Game 3 in San Antonio.

Final updates on Harper and Fox won’t be known until just before tipoff, with Game 3 set for Friday, May 22, at 7:30 pm CST and live on NBC and Peacock
