How Tall is Victor Wembanyama? What we know about his real height, and if the San Antonio Spurs' star is really one of the tallest players in NBA history

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA - APRIL 01: Victor Wembanyama #1 of the San Antonio Spurs stands on the court during their game against the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center on April 01, 2026 in San Francisco, California.

NBA superstar Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs is one of the tallest players in league history. However, there have been differing reports on Wembanyama’s real height, as the star has grown throughout his first three seasons in the NBA.

Wembanyama and the Spurs are set to face the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round of the 2026 NBA Playoffs, marking his and this iteration of the team’s first postseason action.

But before Wemby and San Antonio begin their playoff run, one that is expected to be long, let’s look at what we know about the height of the star, based on how tall he is reported to be, and what could be his true height for one of the tallest players in NBA history.

How Tall Is Victor Wembanyama? What We Know About His ‘Real’ Height

How tall is Victor Wembanyam? Victor Wembanyama height, San Antonio Spurs, Wemby height, How tall is Wemby? NBA tallest players, tallest players in NBA history, Spurs vs Trail Blazers NBA playoffs first round series

GettyDENVER, CO – APRIL 4: Victor Wembanyama #1 of the San Antonio Spurs and Nikola Jokic #15 of the Denver Nuggets battle for the opening tip-off during the first quarter at Ball Arena on April 4, 2026 in Denver, Colorado.

On the official player database on NBA.com, Wembanyama is listed at seven-foot and four inches tall. On ESPN, he was listed an inch taller to begin the year, but that has since dropped down to the current 7’4″ listing. Out of all the 450+ current NBA players, he would be tied with Zach Edey as the the tallest in the league.

Wembanyama has grown since entering the league, as he was officially listed as either 7’2″ or 7’3″ in his rookie year two seasons ago, depending on the source. However, over the past few years, it looks as though the Spurs’ star has been growing, and while even being listed at 7’4″ would indicate that, there’s a chance he is even taller than what the NBA says.

According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, Wembanyama could actually be  closer to the 7’7″ mark.

“He was listed at 7’3″ as a rookie but that was a lie,” Windhorst said before the season. “He was not 7’3.” I believe he was actually about 7’5.” He’s now listed at 7’5.” I think he might be approaching 7’7″ unofficially.”

There have also been a few team pictures and photos of Wembanyama over the season that indicate the franchise centerpiece could be taller than his 7’4″ official listing.

Going along with Windhorst’s claim, Lee Escobedo of Bleacher Report did a deep dive on Wembanyama’s real height, concluding that the 7’7″ mark is probably close to how tall he truly stands.

However, that was done before the season, so even is Wemby is that tall, there’s a possibility he could have grown over the course of the 2025-26 NBA season.

Like Kevin Durant and a few others, there’s a chance fans will never know Wembanyama’s real height. But for now, it would be fair to say that while listed at 7’4″, there’s a high likelihood the Spurs’ star is even taller than that.

100% they’ve had his height wrong the whole time. Zach Edey has been listed at 7’4 since his freshmen season at PurdueWemby was listed at 7’3 his rookie season in the NBABut Wemby has clearly been taller than Edey for years https://t.co/yqKrEVpIrB pic.twitter.com/qfAT09ebSh

The tallest players in NBA history are Gheorghe Mureșan and Manute Bol, who were listed at 7’7″ in height. Is there a chance Wembanyama is as tall as them? Yes, but we might never know the truth.

What Does Wemby Have To Say About His Height?

Wembanyama has a playoff series against the Trail Blazers to prepare for, so while the likelihood of him being asked questions about his height in the past few weeks is high, we don’t have any recent comments about what he’s said about how tall he is.

However, before the season, Wembanyama did comment about his height. As a tall person in general, he’s always stood out, but as the Frenchman said, it doesn’t faze him as much anymore, and his height isn’t something he tends to dwell on.

“Over the years, it’s become a non-subject to me, because in my opinion there’s so many more interesting things about me,” Wembanyama said at a Spurs press conference days before the start of the team’s season.

He added that he is surprised people still talk about and bring up his height, despite the 22-year-old now in the public spotlight since the start of the decade.

“Sometimes I’m surprised that it’s still a conversation, because the truth is in my mind, it doesn’t really make a difference,” Wembanyama added. “I’m taller than anybody else. That’s all you need to know.”

For now, Wembanyama is officially listed at 7’4″ tall, but as has been reported, the chances of him being even taller than that are high.

In his third NBA season, Wembanyama averaged 25 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 3.1 blocks on 51.2% shooting in 65 games. He is the favorite to win Defensive Player of the Year, as is a top candidate for the MVP award.

Wembanyama and the second-seeded Spurs are facing off against the Trail Blazers in the first round of the 2026 NBA Playoffs, with Game 1 of the series set to tip off on Sunday, April 19, at 9 pm EST and live on NBC.
