Anthony Edwards' injury update is drawing a strong reaction from the public. The Timberwolves are 3-1 in their series against the Nuggets.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are 3-1 in their playoff series against the Denver Nuggets following the team’s 112-96 victory on Saturday, but that good news was clouded by star player Anthony Edwards having to leave the game with a left knee injury late in the second quarter.

You could hear people in the arena gasp as Edwards went down and, ultimately, had to leave the court. The incident happened with 2:45 remaining on the clock in the first half, when Edwards jumped up to go up against Cameron Johnson and landed down on his knee in a painful-looking position.

On Sunday, April 26, ESPN’s Shams Charania took to X to offer an injury update, and it’s drawing reaction from Timberwolves followers.

Anthony Edwards Injury Update: Minnesota Timberwolves Followers React to Star Player’s Condition

“Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has sustained a bone bruise and hyperextension in his left knee and is expected to miss multiple weeks, sources tell ESPN,” Charania stated in his post on X. “Results showed Edwards avoided any ligament damage, but he will now miss time.”

“Anthony Edwards avoiding ligament damage is great news but let’s be real availability is part of superstardom,” one follower said on X in response to the news. “You can’t be the next face of the league if your team has to keep surviving playoff series without you.”

“Tough break for Anthony Edwards, but avoiding ligament damage is the biggest win here,” another said with a praying hand emoji. “Timberwolves will feel his absence, but better to heal properly now than risk long-term issues. Speedy recovery.”

“Wishing Edwards a speedy recovery. Wolves desperately need him this season, keep it up,” another stated with flexing emojis.

“Multiple weeks is vague enough to mean he misses the first round or vague enough to mean the season is effectively over depending on how the bracket plays out,” another said.

“A notable blow for the Timberwolves rotation yet the encouraging diagnosis keeps long term concerns to a minimum,” one more added.

So, it’s a mix of good and bad news, with Edwards not having ligament damage but still having to miss time when it matters most in the NBA.

Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets Game 4 Recap: The Player Who Stood Out

Aside from the unfortunate injury, the Timberwolves had a great game, especially Ayo Dosunmu. The team acquired from the Chicago Bulls in February, and that’s proving to be a smart move.

During Game 4, Dosunmu scored a career-high 43 points, the highest-scoring playoff performance by a reserve in five decades, according to ESPN research. He also sunk 13 of 17 shots, was five of five from three-point range and got 12 of his free throws in 42 minutes of game action.

“Ayo was just out of this world, man,” Timberwolves coach Chris Finch said after the win. “Just play after play after play.”

He added, “He goes places quick. He’s an unbelievable finisher. He makes big shots. He’s not afraid. Just was going to ride him until he collapsed, really.”

Depth pays off in the playoffs, and the Minnesota Timberwolves thought ahead to get Dosunmu before they knew they would rely on him so much. The Timberwolves and Nuggets face each other again on Monday, April 27, in Game 5 of the series.
