The Golden State Warriors are in search of a superstar player to add to their roster. After an injury-filled season that saw them miss the playoffs, Golden State is determined not to have that happen again. They need more star talent that can help carry the team.

At 38, Stephen Curry is only going to have more issues staying healthy. The same can be said for Jimmy Butler, who tore his ACL this year. Without those two guys, the Warriors simply didn’t have enough offense to survive. This offseason is about fixing that.

A wild four-team trade proposal from Bleacher Report would see Golden State add Kawhi Leonard to help fix that problem.

Four-Team Trade Idea Sees Warriors Add Kawhi Leonard

Here is the full trade scenario:

Washington Wizards Receive: No. 3, Indiana’s 2029 first-round pick (via LAC)

Golden State Warriors Receive: Kawhi Leonard, Bradley Beal

Los Angeles Clippers Receive: Jimmy Butler, No. 1

Memphis Grizzlies Receive: No. 5, No. 11

There is a lot going on here, but the ultimate result for Golden State would be Leonard and Bradley Beal. Beal missed most of this season with the Clippers after breaking his hip. Adding both aging stars would make them the Golden Girls of the NBA.

In order for this trade to work, both the Wizards and the Grizzlies would have to want to trade down in what is a generational draft at the top. Washington would have to be okay with drafting either Cameron Boozer or Caleb Wilson. Memphis would have to be okay with getting neither.

Because of that scenario, this trade is highly unlikely to ever materialize. From a Golden State perspective, this would be a good trade. Swapping Butler for Leonard is an upgrade. Taking a flyer on Beal would also give them some help off the bench at the guard spot, which they desperately need.

Golden State Could Pursue Leonard in a Trade

The first player on the Warriors’ list for a trade this summer is Giannis Antetokounmpo. If they can land him, they will make almost any trade to make it work. However, he will have several pursuers this offseason. There are other teams that could possibly make better offers and land him instead.

If that happens, Golden State could pivot to Leonard. Leonard had the best season of his career from a scoring perspective. His defense is still great, as well. He would be a great consolation prize if the Warriors lose out on Antetokounmpo.

This season, Golden State ranked just 19th in offense. Fixing that stat is the only way they will have a shot to contend in the playoffs one last time in the Curry era. Maximizing his final years is all the front office is concerned about, as they should be. That is why Steve Kerr is back for the next two years as head coach.
