The Boston Celtics were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. Right after losing in Game 7, Jaylen Brown got on a Twitch stream and said it was his favorite season. He also seemed to blame the referees for some of the struggles he had.

Since that stream, rumors have started to float around that Brown wants his own team. The Celtics could look around the league and decide to trade him. If they do, they would likely be able to get a massive haul for him. Brown might be a first-team All-NBA player this season.

A trade proposal from Zach Lowe actually has Boston participate in a three-way deal that sends Brown out West.

The Celtics Send Jaylen Brown out West in Trade Proposal

While speaking on the Zach Lowe Show, Lowe theorized a possible trade that would see the Celtics send Brown to the Portland Trail Blazers. He also has the Milwaukee Bucks throwing in some picks and sending Giannis Antetokounmpo to Boston.

“I think there’s a fun three-way trade where Giannis goes to Boston, Jaylen Brown goes to Portland, and Portland sends salary and picks, notably Milwaukee’s own picks, and Boston sends picks and stuff back to Milwaukee in a full rebuild mode.”

A trade for Antetokounmpo involving Brown is the simplest one-for-one trade out there for both teams. Antetokounmpo needs a new home. Brown would be the new franchise guy in Milwaukee. However, this trade would give both teams more of what they want.

Brown would thrive in Portland as the new franchise player. Antetokounmpo would give the Celtics a player who can drive to the rim and defend it, as well. He would be great on the pick-and-roll with Jayson Tatum, as well. Antetokounmpo is a top-five player when he’s healthy.

Boston Should Explore Trades Involving Jaylen Brown

While Brown is still really good, the Celtics should pick up the phone if other teams inquire about trading for him. His contract is massive, and he clearly feels that he should have his own team. If that is going to cause issues in the locker room, it’s worth looking around the league at their options.

Brown has already proven that he can win a title as a co-star with Tatum. It’s still a little unclear how much Bill Chisholm is willing to spend as a new owner. He made a trade at the deadline that slid the team under the luxury tax, so he might be risk-averse to spending a ton of money on two stars.

The most likely scenario is that Brown remains in Boston. With Tatum fully healthy next year, the team has a chance to compete for a title. They need to address some problems in the frontcourt, but keeping Brown is the best path for Boston to win another title. Brad Stevens will still field calls from other teams, though.
