Drake appears ready to reignite one of the more unexpected celebrity fallouts tied to the Kendrick Lamar feud. Ahead of the release of Iceman on May 15, leaked lyrics from Drake quickly spread across social media after fans connected several bars to NBA superstar LeBron James.

The Toronto rapper seemed to question James’ loyalty while referencing both his NBA career and their now fractured friendship, Yahoo reports.

“I shouldn’t even be shocked to see you in that arena, because you always made your career off of switching teams up… Please stop asking what’s going on with 23 & me, I’m a real n**** and he’s not, it’s in my DNA,” Drake raps in the leaked track.

The line immediately fueled discussion online because Drake and James once shared one of the most visible friendships in sports and music. Over the years, Drake frequently praised James publicly, referenced him in songs and appeared courtside supporting him during multiple NBA seasons.

Kendrick Lamar Became the Breaking Point

The tension between the two stars appeared to intensify during Drake’s highly publicized feud with Kendrick Lamar in 2024.

James openly supported Lamar throughout the battle and attended Kendrick’s “The Pop Out” concert in Los Angeles. During the event, James could be seen enjoying “Not Like Us,” the diss track aimed directly at Drake that eventually became one of the biggest songs tied to the feud.

That public support drew major attention because of how close Drake and James previously appeared. Fans immediately began speculating that Drake viewed James attending the concert as choosing sides in the rivalry.

James later addressed the situation publicly and downplayed any serious hostility. He explained that he and Drake were simply in “different places” while adding that there was “always love” and “no hate” between them despite the distance in their relationship.

Still, fans believe the leaked Iceman lyrics suggest Drake never fully moved past it.

NBA Fans Flood Social Media Over Drake’s Lyrics

The reaction online came quickly once the bars leaked.

“LeBron just trying to enjoy basketball and Drake opened lyrical fire,” one fan posted on X.

Another user wrote, “Just cuz LeBron showed up to Kendrick Pop Out at LA… Drake lost this one fr.”

Other reactions focused more on the “23 & me” wordplay than the feud itself.

“That ‘23 & me’ line alone about to keep Twitter unemployed for the next 48 hours,” another fan joked.

Some fans also pushed back on Drake’s criticism involving James switching teams during his NBA career. Critics argued the line felt more personal than effective, especially considering the broader context surrounding Kendrick Lamar.

“LeBron really got under Drake’s skin because no way a billionaire rapper is making ‘you switched teams’ bars in 2026 like it’s a middle school lunch table debate,” another post read.

Whether fans sided with Drake or James, the leaked song accomplished one thing immediately. It created even more anticipation surrounding Iceman.

The project marks Drake’s first major solo release since the Kendrick Lamar battle reshaped much of the public conversation around him. Fans continue watching closely to see whether Drake directly addresses Lamar again, references the legal controversy surrounding the feud or leans fully into music meant to move beyond the rivalry.

Instead, these leaked lyrics suggest the fallout still lingers.

With Iceman arriving May 15, attention now shifts toward whether James responds publicly or simply lets the music and social media debate continue on its own.
