Mitchell Robinson #23 of the New York Knicks stays calm

The New York Knicks have released a concerning injury report ahead of their Friday matchup against the Toronto Raptors, raising questions about both their backcourt and frontcourt depth. With multiple rotation players dealing with injuries, New York could be forced to make key adjustments as they look to maintain momentum late in the season.

Knicks Injury Report

Knicks rule out McBride and Robinson tonight — both injury management.

The‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Knicks may have to change their lineup if these absences are confirmed. McBride is already out and if Kolek cannot play, then Jalen Brunson will have to take on more of the offensive leadership. Bench guards might get some extra playing time, and wings may also have to take on the ball-handling tasks more often as a second option.

In the frontcourt, the whole burden will be on Karl-Anthony Towns, who is expected to be the main player inside on both offense and defense. At the same time, since the Knicks want to make up for the lack of depth and still have an offensive threat from the bench, Jordan Clarkson is likely to be given more opportunities.

These worries aside, New York heads into the match with great momentum. Coming off a commanding 112-106 victory over the Boston Celtics.

What This Game Means for Knicks’ Seeding

This‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ game is a very important one for the New York Knicks in terms of the Eastern Conference rankings. They have been one of the best teams in the conference and their recent victory over the Boston Celtics was a great way to show that the standings race remains very close.

Since the teams are only a few games apart, any result at this stage could greatly affect playoff positioning and possibly home-court advantage. Besides just maintaining their position at the top, winning against the Raptors would allow the Knicks to keep one step ahead and also get their rhythm going for the playoffs. But, if the Knicks get sidelined by injuries, then it might really turn out to be a disadvantage for them in such a highly competitive ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌race.

Impact of Mitchell Robinson’s Absence

If Mitchell Robinson remains sidelined, the Knicks will feel the impact immediately on the defensive end. The center has been in excellent form throughout April, averaging 10.7 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 2.3 steals per game while shooting an elite 82.4% from the field. These numbers highlight just how efficient and dominant he has been in limited minutes.

Beyond the stats, Robinson’s rim protection and rebounding presence have anchored New York’s interior defense. On the season, he is averaging nearly 9 rebounds per game while shooting over 70% from the field, underlining his consistency.

Without him, opponents are likely to attack the paint more aggressively, and second-chance opportunities could increase significantly.

Additionally, Jordan Clarkson could see extended minutes as the Knicks adjust their rotation, especially if they need more scoring punch to offset defensive shortcomings.
