New York Knicks star OG Anunoby is injured, but the team has not announced an official status yet.

The New York Knicks have not yet filed their official NBA injury report for Game 3 against the Philadelphia 76ers, leaving OG Anunoby’s injury status unresolved after his late Game 2 exit.

That is the tension point around the Knicks right now. Anunoby left New York’s 108-102 win over Philadelphia with an apparent right leg injury.

The NBA’s injury report rules require teams to designate the status of players whose availability may be affected by 5 p.m. local time the day before a game, except in back-to-back situations. That means the next Knicks filing should be the first official signal on whether Anunoby is questionable, doubtful, out or left off the report entirely.

Latest Official Injury Injury Report (1:15 p.m. EST): ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Anunoby is day-to-day with a hamstring strain and will be questionable for Friday’s game.

New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby has been diagnosed with right hamstring strain and will be day to day, sources tell ESPN. Anunoby is the Knicks second-leading scorer this postseason at 21.4 points per game. He is listed questionable for Game 3 on Friday against Philadelphia.

Until then, the Knicks have a gray area around one of their most important playoff players.

Latest OG Anunoby Injury Updates

8:30 a.m. ET: The NBA’s official injury report listed the Knicks’ Game 3 injury report as “NOT YET SUBMITTED.” No official status was listed for Anunoby.

Postgame, Game 2: Knicks head coach Mike Brown did not have a medical update after the win. Heavy’s earlier coverage noted Brown said he had not spoken to the medical staff yet and only knew Anunoby had left the game.

What is known: Anunoby exited late in the fourth quarter and did not return. He finished with 24 points, five rebounds, two assists and four steals in 37 minutes, according to Heavy’s prior Game 2 injury coverage.

What is not known: The Knicks have not officially announced a diagnosis, MRI result or Game 3 availability designation.

OG Anunoby Injury Is An Apparent Hamstring Injury, but Not Official Yet

The working concern around Anunoby is an apparent hamstring injury, but that has not yet been made official by the Knicks.

That distinction matters. Several observers pointed to Anunoby grabbing at the back of his right leg before exiting Game 2, and Heavy previously rounded up analyst and sports-medicine reaction suggesting a possible right hamstring issue. But until the Knicks list a specific injury on the NBA report or announce a diagnosis, “hamstring” remains an apparent injury, not the team’s official designation.

That is why the injury report carries extra weight here. It will not necessarily reveal the full severity, but it should at least give the first formal status label.
