Soon, New York Knicks guard Landry Shamet will hit the negotiating table with NBA teams as an unrestricted free agent.

If teams want to come to the table with an offer, they will likely have to be ready to shell out at least $6.1 million, according to Bleacher Report’s Grant Hughes.

Knicks Get A $6.1 Million Prediction On Landry Shamet

“Shamet used this past season to firmly establish himself as a rotation-worthy veteran. Any team in need of a shooting specialist should target him in free agency, likely with an offer big enough to make the cap-strapped Knicks hesitate,” Hughes writes.

“Shamet is worth at least the tax-payer midlevel of $6.1 million.”

During his second run with the Knicks, Shamet has appeared in 51 games. The veteran guard averaged 23 minutes of action during the regular season. Shamet shot 43.7% from the field to produce 9.3 points per game.

The veteran drained 39.2% from three, taking 5.2 shots per game. Shamet has maintained strong three-point shooting numbers, on par with his 38.6% career-average.

The Knicks Will Have Competition

Before the 2024-2025 NBA season, Shamet was in an awkward spot in his career. He was coming off a run with the rebuilding Washington Wizards.

The veteran guard joined the Knicks, but a preseason injury sidelined him for some time, leading Shamet to the G League squad until he was ready to return. After a 50-game run last season, Shamet and the Knicks’ mutual interest was strong enough to keep teams away.

The Knicks landed Shamet on a solid bargain price–paying the veteran sharpshooter $2.3 million for the year–but now the valuation is going up.

As a top-heavy team with a lack of cap space, the Knicks are going to have a difficult time meeting a Shamet who’s in demand. He might’ve been under the radar when the Knicks first nabbed him two years ago, but Shamet is hard to overlook after bouncing back in a big market.
