NEW YORK, NEW YORK - NOVEMBER 05: Anthony Edwards #5 of the Minnesota Timberwolves warms up before the game against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on November 05, 2025 in New York City.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have announced that Anthony Edwards will make his injury return against the Dallas Mavericks in their Monday night game.
Edwards has been out for nearly two weeks with what was officially described as right knee inflammation, but will return after missing six games for the Timberwolves.
Head coach Chris Finch also announced that Edwards would be on a minutes restriction, but getting him back is big news for Minnesota.

The Monday night game against Dallas was previously expected to be Edwards’ injury return date, as he was upgraded to questionable before the contest. It was the first time that he wasn’t officially listed as ‘out’ since he was originally sidelined with the injury.
There was also hope over the weekend that Edwards would return against the Detroit Pistons, and while he was reportedly making progress, he was later ruled out for that game.
However, Edwards is now set to make his return, playing in his first game since March 15.

According to Finch, Edwards is set to have a minutes restriction, which is typical for a player ramping back up from an injury.
Regardless, Edwards being sidelined with right knee inflammation was never considered to be too serious of an injury. According to team insider Jon Krawcyznski of The Athletic, the franchise star is a ‘quick healer’ and the that that he was put on the injury report in the first place was a precautionary measure in order to make sure he was healthy for another deep postseason run.
The 1-2 week timeline is intentional. Edwards has been a fast healer, so they are leaving open the possibility he returns sooner than later. But they’re not going to rush him. https://t.co/6bMvM2FHrW

Edwards will now make his return to action for the Timberwolves as they tight for a top-four seed and home court advantage in the Western Conference standings.
In 58 games this season, the star shooting guard is averaging a career-high and third in the NBA 29.5 points, along with 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists on 49.2% shooting from the field. He is at risk of missing out on the NBA’s end-of-season awards due to the ‘65-game rule‘ and will need to play in the rest of their games this season to qualify for the All-NBA team.

In addition to announcing Edwards’ return, Minnesota also revealed their final injury report against Dallas on Monday.
According to the team, Jaden McDaniels is the only full-time player listed as out. The wing is currently dealing with a knee injury, and they also announced earlier today that he is officially week-to-week, meaning an injury return is not expected anytime soon.
