The Minnesota Timberwolves are set to play the Charlotte Hornets on Easter Sunday, April 5, at 7 pm EST in a game that, based on the latest Anthony Edwards injury update, will not feature the NBA superstar.

Edwards has been ruled out with a knee injury for the Timberwolves, reportedly managing the same knee injury that kept him out for six games in late March.

Regardless, before the game against Charlotte, Minnesota announced its starting lineup and final injury report for the cross-conference matchup.

Timberwolves Starting Lineup

Minnesota Timberwolves starting lineup vs. Charlotte Hornets, Julius Randle

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA – FEBRUARY 11: Julius Randle #30 of the Minnesota Timberwolves celebrates in the fourth quarter against the Portland Trail Blazers at Target Center on February 11, 2026 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Timberwolves defeated the Trail Blazers 133-109.

In the lead-up to the Sunday contest, the Timberwolves revealed the starting lineup against the Hornets with a post on social media, as their starters were also confirmed on NBA.com.

Mike Conley, Donte DiVincenzo, Ayo Dosunmu, Julius Randle, and Rudy Gobert all got the nod from head coach Chris Finch and the staff.

This is a group that Minnesota trotted out a few times while Edwards was sidelined with the knee injury. In the time since, as the franchise star has been in out of the injury report, Bones Hyland and Terrence Shannon have also been placed in the starting lineup at times over Conley, who is in the final stage of his career.

While Dosunmu didn’t start consistenly after he was traded to the team at the deadline, he’s since become a consistent starter amid a few of the other injuries the Timberwolves have been dealing with over the past few weeks.

It’s a bit of an undersized lineup against Charlotte, but it’s one Finch will be going with on Sunday.

Anthony Edwards Injury Update, Timberwolves Injury Report

Hours before the game, Minnesota ruled Edwards out, officially dealing with ‘patellofemoral pain syndrome’ on the injury report.

However, it appears that, like his absence in a few games over the past week, the Timberwolves are sitting the star for injury management, as he missed those six games with right knee inflammation, and the staff is hoping that the injury doesn’t get any worse before the playoffs, as he is the key to their postseason success.

According to team insider Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, Finch said Edwards is ‘day-to-day.’

Chris Finch on Edwards’ health. Says it’s all a part of the injury management. “He remains day to day. This is kind of the day to day. I don’t think there’s any great concern for anything longer term. But we’re still in the uncertain phase.”

“Chris Finch on Edwards’ health. Says it’s all a part of the injury management. ‘He remains day to day. This is kind of the day-to-day. I don’t think there’s any great concern for anything longer term. But we’re still in the uncertain phase,'” he wrote on X.

Edwards is averaging 28.9 points, five rebounds, and 3.7 assists on 48.9% shooting in what has been one of the best seasons of his career. However, he is no longer eligible for end-of-season awards. Regardless, keeping him healthy for the playoffs remains the biggest task at hand for the Timberwolves in the final few games of the year.

Jaden McDaniels is also on the injury report and out for the Timberwolves on Sunday. He is dealing with a knee injury of his own, and is officially ‘week to week’ according to the team.

Minnesota is currently 46-31 and sixth in the West, but in a tight race between the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, and Denver Nuggets to grab home-court advantage in the final few games of the regular season.
