The Minnesota Timberwolves are in a slump ahead of the end of the regular season, with Anthony Edwards dealing with a knee injury.

Entering Tuesday’s game against the Indiana Pacers, the Timberwolves are on a three-game losing streak. They are just 5-5 in their last 10 games and have gone cold from beyond the arc.

Edwards has only played twice in their last 10, mainly due to a right knee injury. He had an illness on April 2, which ruled him out against the Detroit Pistons.

Mike Conley Sends Warning To Timberwolves

Amid their losing streak, veteran point guard Mike Conley delivered a warning to motivate the Timberwolves for their final four games in the regular season.

They would need to win at least one game or the Phoenix Suns lose one more to ensure their spot as the sixth seed in the Western Conference and avoid the NBA Play-In Tournament.

“I know a lot of guys can get down individually if things aren’t going their way,” Conley said, via Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic. “We do have an emotional team, so it can spiral if it gets too crazy.”

But regardless of how they’re doing over the past two weeks, Conley believes that the team can compete and gain momentum before the playoffs.

“It’s just about trying to keep everybody’s spirit up, understanding that we’re a really good team. Just because we hit a tough stretch, injury and whatever we’re dealing with, we have a lot in the tank, we have a very deep team, and we should still go out there and compete.”

In addition to Edwards, the Timberwolves are also playing without Jaden McDaniels. He has been ruled out because of a bone bruise in his left knee and is considered week-to-week, as per ESPN.

Edwards’ Injury Similar to Steph Curry’s

The Timberwolves officially diagnosed Edwards’ right knee injury as patellofemoral pain syndrome, more commonly known as runner’s knee.

It was the same injury that kept Steph Curry out for more than two months. He recently returned to the Golden State Warriors, and he looked like his old self in their loss to the Houston Rockets.

However, Curry described the injury as complicated and a new normal.

According to The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski, Edwards’ knee is structurally fine, and there’s nothing wrong with it. He’s just experiencing pain at times like Curry, so it’s just up to him if he wants to play through it or not.

Speaking to Krawczynski, coach Chris Finch revealed that they are considering Edwards as day-to-day moving forward. They remain uncertain if he’ll be returning before the end of the regular season or if he’ll be ready for the playoffs.

“This is all just kind of part of injury management when you’re coming off an injury such as his,” Finch said. “He remains day-to-day. This is kind of the day-to-day. I don’t think there’s any great concern for anything longer term. But we’re still in the uncertain phase.”

As for Edwards’ status against the Pacers, he has already been ruled out and won’t be suiting up.
