The Minnesota Timberwolves are set to play the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night, March 30, in a game that will feature Anthony Edwards, as he was upgraded to available for the Western Conference matchup.
Along with announcing the Edwards injury update, the Timberwolves also announced their starting lineup and final injury report against the Mavericks.
Minnesota is in a tight race in the West standings, hopeful to land a top-four seed and secure home-court advantage for the playoffs.
UPDATE: Edwards did not start the game but checked in for Mike Conley after a minute of game-time.
Before the game, the Timberwolves revealed their starting lineup against Dallas in a post on social media.
Donte DiVincenzo, Anthony Edwards, Ayo Dosumu, Julius Randle, and Rudy Gobert all got the nod from head coach Chris Finch.
The Monday night game marks Edwards’ return, his first action back after missing six games with right knee inflammation.
However, Minnesota is without one of their other key players, so the addition of Dosunmu to the starting lineup is a small change.
Before the game, the Timberwolves also announced their final injury report for the game against Dallas.
Jaden McDaniels is the only full-time player listed on the team’s injury report, currently dealing with a knee injury.
Per the Timberwolves, McDaniels is officially listed as ‘week-to-week’ meaning he won’t return in the next few games, and could potentially miss the rest of the regular season.
“An MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) conducted by Dr. Craig Bennett at Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine on McDaniels revealed left knee patella tendinopathy and a bone bruise. McDaniels will be listed as week-to-week, and further updates of his progress will be provided when available,” they wrote in a statement.

Minnesota also has a few two-way players listed on the injury report. However, after both Edwards and Dosumu were originally questionable for the game, they were both upgraded to available, and are now in the starting lineup for Monday night.

Edwards was listed as questionable in the lead-up to Minnesota’s game against Dallas.
It was the first time he was upgraded from out since he was sidelined on March 17 with the right knee injury.
However, according to team insider Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, the franchise star had made progess, and after missing their loss to the Detroit Pistons over the weekend, the Monday night game was his expected return date.
“All signs are pointing to Edwards returning Monday in Dallas, giving the Timberwolves a needed jolt as the playoffs near. Edwards has been doing individual work at the team’s practice facility this week and was cleared by the team Friday for all on-court basketball activities,” he wrote.

In 58 games this season, the star shooting guard is averaging a career-high and third in the NBA 29.5 points, along with 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists on 49.2% shooting from the field. He is at risk of missing out on the NBA’s end-of-season awards due to the ‘65-game rule‘ and will need to play in the rest of their games this season to qualify for the All-NBA team.
The Timberwolves are currently 45-29 and fifth in the Western Conference standings. They have eight games to go in the regular season, and are in a tight race between the Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets, and Houston Rockets for a top-four seed and home-court advantage for at least the first round of the playoffs.
