Anthony Edwards will not play in the rest of the Nuggets-Timberwolves series.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have held their own against the Denver Nuggets, but the Wolves are now attempting to win the series without Anthony Edwards. While not quite as severe as Donte DiVincenzo’s Achilles’ injury, Edwards remains sidelined for the foreseeable future.

ESPN’s Shams Chrarania reported that Edwards will miss a minimum of two weeks during the postseason, including the remainder of the Timberwolves-Nuggets series. This means Edwards will not play in tonight’s Game 6 matchup between the Timberwolves and Nuggets.

Edwards is now dealing with injuries to both knees in his quest to return during the NBA playoffs.

“Anthony Edwards is out for this series,” Charania detailed in an April 28, 2026, appearance on “Get Up.” “And of course, it’s up in the air when and where he’s going to return in the next round, if they are able to advance. It’s a bone bruise in his left knee, a hyperextension. So he’s avoided ligament damage, but it’s going to be, at minimum, my understanding is two weeks.

“And so that puts you at some point in the second round where the window starts to open up for you to return. But then remember, on the right knee, he’s dealt with runner’s knee, which is something Stephen Curry dealt with (which led to) inflammation, swelling,” Charania added.

“He had to get a PRP injection with a week or two left in the regular season. So he’s already had to deal with that. Now, it’s the other knee that he’s got this issue in.”

Anthony Edwards’ Injury Timeline: When Will the Timberwolves Star Play Again?

If the Wolves are able to close out the Nuggets, Minnesota faces the San Antonio Spurs in the next round. The timeline for this potential playoff series depends on when the Timberwolves-Nuggets series ends.

The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski reported that the expectation is that Edwards will return during the second round of the NBA playoffs. An exact date has not been revealed as it depends on Edwards’ recovery.

“Everything I’m told, backed by what Chris Finch said to @PAOnTheMic this morning, is that Anthony Edwards fully intends to return to the playoffs at some point, if the Wolves can stay in the fight,” Krawczynski detailed in an April 27, message on X. “If they advance, my gut says their next opponent will see him at some point.”

Timberwolves HC Chris Finch on Anthony Edwards: ‘He Generally Comes Back Ahead of the Timeline’

Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch pointed out that Edwards has a strong track record of recovering from injuries sooner than expected. Finch noted that generally Edwards has returned “ahead of the timeline.”

“We do know that if we keep extending this playoff series, he is going to come back,” Finch told KFAN 1003, per Zone Coverage’s Charlie Walton. “And he generally comes back ahead of the timeline.”

Time will tell if Edwards can keep this pattern going to once again suit up for the Wolves in the NBA playoffs. For now, Minnesota is focused on attempting to win the series against Denver.
