The Miami Dolphins were predicted to sign a former Vikings cornerback

Following the 2026 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins’ top priority was securing De’Von Achane’s status with the team moving forward. The team did just that, signing him to a four-year extension that will put him under contract with the team through the 2030 season.

Achane had previously been the only member of the Dolphins to be absent from the team’s voluntary workouts as he wanted to get an extension finalized. With that situation settled, the Dolphins can now look at veteran free agents to fill some of the holes on their roster.

Pro Football Network’s Jacob Infante has predicted the Dolphins signing former Minnesota Vikings cornerback Fabian Moreau.

Miami Dolphins Predicted to Sign Free Agent Cornerback

Infante predicted landing spots for 25 of the best remaining free agents. He listed the Miami Dolphins as the top landing spot for veteran cornerback Fabian Moreau. Infante wrote:

“Fabian Moreau has bounced around to five different teams in his last six seasons, though he’s coming off two consecutive seasons as a backup cornerback for the Vikings. He fared pretty well in 2025, ranking No. 33 in the NFL with a 79.5 PFSN CB Impact Score, indicating he could push for a starting spot in some situations.”

The veteran cornerback has appeared in 124 NFL games during his career. Experience is something Miami’s cornerback room currently lacks.The Dolphins lost veteran cornerback Jack Jones Jr. to the San Francisco 49ers in free agency, and the team’s best cornerback during the 2025 season, Rasul Douglas, remains unsigned.

The current Dolphins cornerbacks room is headlined by first-round pick Chris Johnson, former second-round pick Juju Brents, who has impressed but struggled to stay healthy, and 2025 Week 1 starter Storm Duck, who missed most of last season with injuries. Adding a veteran presence like Moreau could provide the unit with a much-needed boost

Moreau would likely not command a high salary, as he only appeared in 198 defensive snaps last season, primarily serving as a backup in Minnesota’s defense. He was solid in those snaps, earning a 71.4 grade from Pro Football Focus.

Miami Dolphins Cornerbacks

Regarding Miami’s cornerback room, Miami Herald writer Isaiah Smalls said, “It’s no secret that cornerback happens to be one of the Miami Dolphins’ worst units.”

Smalls wrote:

“Prior to the selection of Chris Johnson, the room consisted of two players who had season-ending injuries in 2025, one who allowed a 124.1 passer rating when targeted, another who gave up 15 touchdowns during his three-year stint as a starter, someone who played out of position as a rookie, a seventh-round pick who most recently was burned for 14.2 yards per completion and a trio that has never started an NFL game.”

Meanwhile, previously mentioned cornerback Rasul Douglas was also listed as one of the top 25 free agents by Jacob Infante. Infante suggests the Dolphins and Vikings swapping their 2025 cornerbacks as he listed the Vikings as the top landing spot for Douglas. Infante wrote:

“The Dolphins needed a stopgap starting option at cornerback last year, and Rasul Douglas filled that role admirably. He had two interceptions and ranked No. 15 in the league in PFSN’s CB Impact Scoring at 84.3. He’ll be 31 in August, so he’s hardly a long-term solution for any team, but he should get the chance to battle for a starting role.”
