The Las Vegas Raiders are completely remaking their quarterback room this offseason. Not only did they draft Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 pick, but they also signed Kirk Cousins in free agency.

A Cousins, Mendoza and Aidan O’Connell quarterback room looked pretty strong, but the Raiders didn’t stop there. They signed former Missouri State quarterback Jacob Clark as an undrafted free agent, and he wasn’t the only one.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Raiders are signing former Baylor quarterback Sawyer Robertson.

Las Vegas met with Robertson during the pre-draft process, so they’ve had interest in him. There was some thought he could be a Day 3 draft pick, but there weren’t as many quarterbacks selected as expected.

Robertson started his college career at Mississippi State before transferring to Baylor. He was their full-time starter the last two seasons. In 2025, he threw for 3,681 yards and 31 touchdowns in 12 games. Similar to the other quarterbacks the Raiders have added this offseason, he’s a big body at 6-foot-4.

At this point, Robertson is competing for the No. 3 quarterback job. It would help his chances if the Raiders cut or trade O’Connell. He should have the edge over Clark, who played at a much smaller school and doesn’t have as much experience against NFL-level competition.

Analysis of Robertson

Robertson wasn’t one of the most talked-about prospects in this year’s class, but he is a household name to college football fans. He has played in some big games and has shown some good ability at times.

ESPN detailed what Robertson does well and what he doesn’t before the draft.

“Robertson was named second-team All-Big 12 in 2025 and threw 61 touchdowns over three years at Baylor,” ESPN wrote. “He has a gunslinger mentality and shows good command of the scheme. Robertson also shows quick feet on drops from under center or in the shotgun, consistently setting up with a firm and confident base. He possesses good but not elite arm strength that could be improved in time. He has an over-the-top delivery and can see the entire field from within the pocket. As a passer, Robertson anticipates routes well and leads receivers to open grass. He makes timely throws outside of the numbers. However, he can get locked on a target for too long. Robertson has deceptive athleticism, throwing the ball well on the run. While he has pocket mobility, he isn’t afraid to stand in a collapsing pocket to deliver throws. Robertson can be streaky with his footwork and overall mechanics, which led to a 60.5% completion rate during his time at Baylor.”

O’Connell on Notice

There may not be a bigger loser from the Raiders’ offseason than O’Connell. Prior to Cousins getting signed, he was the only quarterback on the roster. Now the team has added four.

O’Connell is definitely on notice. The Raiders will likely try to trade him, but it’s hard to imagine he’ll have much value. Perhaps he can play his way into a roster spot if he plays well in training camp, but he’ll have to get there first.
