The Kansas City Chiefs‘ marquee offseason move was signing free agent Kenneth Walker III.

It has been several years since the Chiefs have had a running back the caliber of Walker. After inking him to a three-year, $43.5 million contract with $28.7 million guaranteed, it appears Kansas City will be putting more of an emphasis on its rushing attack.

The folks at EA Sports should be nearing a decision as to who will be on the cover of their cornerstone “Madden” video game. It is usually announced in early June, which is just a couple of weeks away. Bobby Kownack of NFL.com put together five candidates to grace the cover of 2027’s edition, and Walker was among them.

“Putting aside the aforementioned statistical unlikelihood of the Madden cover featuring a third straight running back, your name belongs in the mix if you win Super Bowl Most Valuable Player. Similar to Bijan Robinson, Walker is a persistent home run threat, adept at making the first man miss (or punishing him for trying) and eking out more yards than thought possible. The 25-year-old logged his second 1,000-yard rushing campaign in 2025, but he truly shined in the postseason. Walker scored at will against the rival 49ers in the Divisional Round, taking three trips to the end zone. Then, in the wake of backfield mate Zach Charbonnet’s season-ending injury versus San Francisco, Walker scored yet again with 111 scrimmage yards in the NFC title game and rumbled to 161 total yards and the MVP hardware in Super Bowl LX. Seahawks fans might bristle seeing him don Chiefs colors on the cover, but at least they won’t have a Madden curse to worry about.”

Walker being on the cover of “Madden” wearing a Chiefs uniform based off of what he accomplished with the Seahawks would be quite a entertaining storyline. It would be a measure of revenge for Walker after Seattle let him walk despite having such a big 2025 season. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the only Chief to ever be on the cover, accomplishing the feat twice.

The Best Could Still Be Ahead for Walker With Chiefs

Walker has had a very good four-year NFL career. He’s rushed for over 1,000 yards twice, and has 31 career touchdowns. He carried the Seahawks’ offense on his back during the 2025 postseason, culminating in winning Super Bowl MVP.

Still just 25 years old, Walker is in his prime and entering a dream scenario in Kansas City. He has never played with a QB the caliber of Mahomes, and will be utilized to his fullest extent by coach Andy Reid. The Chiefs have spent the last couple of years building a young and powerful offensive line for Walker to run behind.

Walker is motivated to continue to win championships, and K.C. is equally as motivated after having a down year in 2025. On Monday Walker took to social media to share his story about how he almost had to give football up, and how he continues to persevere.
