The Baltimore Ravens — and everyone who watched them play in 2025 — came away unimpressed with what they saw on the offensive line.

That’s why the Ravens have spent so much time this offseason trying to retool that group, which included using their 1st round pick (No. 14 overall) on 6-foot-4, 320-pound Penn State guard Olaivavega Ioane.

Those changes could lead to 17-game starting guard Andrew Vorhees taking a seat on the bench in 2026, with Ravens reporter Connor Burke warning against a possible “depth chart free fall” thanks to the influx of new talent.

With Ioane penciled in at one starting guard spot, the Ravens dropped a 3-year, $30 million free-agent contract on another starting guard with John Simpson.

All signs point to Vorhees being either on his way to the bench or his way out.

“Vorhees may go from a starter to a possible cut candidate in just one offseason,” Burke wrote. “He could be free-falling … Vorhees simply wasn’t good last year. Not even close. With the moves to bring in Simpson and Ioane, it was obvious that Vorhees was going to be playing on borrowed time. However, the roster overhaul hasn’t stopped there. This offseason, Baltimore has added five players who could fill in at guard. Simpson and Ioane will take the majority, and hopefully all, of the snaps, but others could challenge Vorhees for the backup role.”

Terrible Break for Vorhees Before NFL Draft

Vorhees, 6-foot-6 and 320 pounds, was a 7th-round pick (No. 229 overall) by the Ravens out of USC in the 2023 NFL draft after an unbelievably bad break.

Projected as a 1st to 3rd-round pick, Vorhees tore his ACL during drills at the NFL scouting combine.

After sitting out his rookie season while he recovered from his knee injury, Vorhees made 3 starts in 2024 and started all 17 games in 2025 as the Ravens stumbled to an 8-9 finish and missed the playoffs for the 1st time since 2021.

The pairing of starting guards Daniel Faalele and Vorhees proved to be disastrous. Both graded out among the NFL’s worst at their position, and 2-time NFL MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson ended up missing 4 games due to injuries — a direct result of having a terrible offensive line.

Faalele left for a 1-year contract with the New York Giants, where he joins former Ravens head coach John Harbaugh.

Vorhees 1 of NFL’s Top Incentives Program Earners

Vorhees ended up being 1 of the NFL’s top earners in the league’s annual performance-based incentives program — the bonus system the league uses to pay players with low salaries who play high snap counts.

Vorhees landed a $1.199 million bonus, ranking him No. 6 in the NFL’s bonus payouts as the league dropped $542 million in 2026 bonuses. Chicago Bears cornerback Nahson Wright took the No. 1 spot with a $1.4 million bonus.

“Ravens guard Andrew Vorhees ranked 6th in the NFL’s Performance-Based Pay Distribution, earning an additional $1.199M,” ESPN’s Jamison Hensley wrote on X. “Under the Performance-Based Pay program, a fund is used as a supplemental form of player compensation based upon a comparison of playing time to salary.”

Put in place in 2002, the NFL has paid out approximately $3.8 billion in bonuses over the last 24 years.
