Stefon Diggs received a major victory in court on Tuesday.
The former New England Patriots wide receiver was found not guilty of choking his chef last year, TMZ reports.
He was facing one count of felony strangulation and one count of misdemeanor assault and battery, but the jury determined he was not guilty of either, with the case now closed. The outlet adds that Diggs was “emotional as the verdict was being read.”
The New York Post adds that the jury was composed of six people, with the decision coming after just 90 minutes of deliberations. If he was found guilty, Diggs was facing five years in prison for the strangulation charge as well as two-and-a-half years in jail for the misdemeanor assault.
