Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold was a part of Adam Ray's Netflix comedy special with Marshawn Lynch recently.

Sam Darnold’s Seattle spotlight is not limited to football anymore.

The Seattle Seahawks quarterback appeared as part of Adam Ray’s Seattle comedy event with franchise legend Marshawn Lynch, and Ray announced afterward that the show is “coming soon to Netflix.” Ray’s Instagram post named “Dr. Phil, Marshawn Lynch & Sam Darnold,” while his Threads post used the same Netflix tease after what he called a “special night” in Seattle.

Darnold also shared the moment on his Instagram Stories, putting the Seahawks’ new face of the franchise in the middle of a very Seattle crossover: a local comedian, the team’s current quarterback and one of the most popular players in franchise history.

Heavy

Ray, a Seattle-area native, has built a massive comedy audience through his Dr. Phil parody character. Lynch has long been one of Seattle’s most recognizable sports personalities, even years after his playing career ended. Darnold’s inclusion is the part that makes this more than a comedy item for Seahawks fans.

It is another reminder of how quickly his public profile has changed.

Sam Darnold’s Seattle Star Turn Keeps Growing

A year ago, Darnold was still trying to turn a career reset into something lasting. Now, he is the quarterback attached to the Seahawks’ second Super Bowl title and the kind of player who can walk onstage in Seattle next to Lynch and get treated like a central figure in the city’s sports culture.

The Seahawks beat the New England Patriots 29-13 in Super Bowl LX, with Darnold throwing a touchdown pass to AJ Barner and avoiding turnovers during Seattle’s postseason run. Kenneth Walker III won Super Bowl MVP, but Darnold’s role in stabilizing the offense helped complete one of the league’s most notable quarterback turnarounds.

Darnold is no longer just the quarterback Seattle signed to replace Geno Smith. He is now being folded into the city’s broader sports-and-entertainment identity, sharing a stage with Lynch in a special that Ray says will be distributed by Netflix.

For a quarterback, that kind of off-field acceptance matters. Seattle fans have not always been quick to embrace change at the position, especially after the Russell Wilson era and the Geno Smith revival. Darnold winning immediately changed the conversation. Public moments like this help cement it.

Marshawn Lynch Gives the Netflix Moment Real Seahawks Weight

Lynch’s involvement is what gives the appearance its emotional pull for Seahawks fans.

Few former Seahawks remain as connected to Seattle’s fan base as Lynch. His “Beast Mode” years still represent the most successful era in franchise history, including the team’s first Super Bowl title. Pairing him with Darnold links two very different Seahawks eras: Lynch as the defining personality of Seattle’s Legion of Boom run, and Darnold as the quarterback of the franchise’s newest championship chapter.

The news is not merely that Darnold attended a comedy show. It is that he joined Lynch and Ray at a Seattle event that is now being teased for Netflix, giving fans another shared moment between the franchise’s past and present.

The Seahawks’ Sam Darnold Era Now Has a Different Feel

Darnold’s contract already made him Seattle’s quarterback in a practical sense. His first season made him that in a football sense. Moments like this help make it true culturally.

Spotrac lists Darnold’s deal as a three-year, $100.5 million contract with the Seahawks, including $55 million guaranteed. Over the Cap also lists the deal at three years and $100.5 million, with $37.5 million fully guaranteed at signing.

The money said Seattle was taking a serious swing. The Super Bowl win changed the framing. Now, Darnold is not being introduced to Seahawks fans. He is being celebrated with them.

That is the larger significance of Ray’s Netflix tease. Darnold showed up in a setting built for Seattle energy, next to Lynch, with a crowd full of Seahawks fans around them. For a quarterback still building his long-term place in the city, that kind of reception is not nothing.

No release date has been announced in the posts from Ray. But when the special does arrive, Seahawks fans will have a reason to watch beyond the comedy.

They will be watching a snapshot of the moment Darnold’s Seattle story moved from the field into the culture.
