Kevin Coleman Jr. #3 was a teammate of Shedeur Sanders and would like to go to the Cleveland Browns in the NFL draft.

In four seasons in college, wide receiver Kevin Coleman Jr. played for four different programs, finishing at Missouri, having transferred from Mississippi State and Louisville before that. But through all those transfers, Coleman has spent time with only one quarterback who is in the NFL, and that came in his first season–at Jackson State, where he was a teammate of Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

With the NFL draft approaching this week, the Browns are looking for receivers. They could draft a high-end one with their No. 6 pick, or land a good one at No. 24–assuming they hang onto their picks. But they will be looking to add depth to the WR room, too, and remain on the lookout for special teams help. And that’s where Coleman could come in.

Amid his many moves during his college career, Coleman was named the freshman of the year for the SWAC in his time playing at Jackson State with Sanders. He is undersize (5-foot-10) but speedy (4.49 40-yard dash), capable of being a surehanded slot weapon and return man. That’s the kind of help the Browns need.

And if it brings Coleman back to catching passes from Sanders with the Browns, all the better. Appearing on the “Up and Adams” podcast this week, Coleman said he would enthusiastically welcome a Sanders reunion.

Said Coleman: “Now that’s my guy. I am super happy, I am super happy for him. Proud of him, where he is at right now, proud of the guy he’s becoming. And hey, that’d be crazy. Freshman year, the chemistry we got. Just a great guy. I’d love to go back and play with him.”

Shedeur Sanders Is ‘Stronger, Smarter’ Now With the Browns

Adams asked Coleman how he has seen Sanders evolve since his freshman year. The QB was 3-4 in seven starts with the Browns, guiding the poorest offense in the league. The Browns are hopeful that putting a better supporting cast around Sanders (or Deshaun Watson) will allow the Browns much better quarterback play.

Said Coleman: “He got stronger, he got smarter, of course, his IQ’s building. He’s more mobile, he can take off, but he’s more accurate, of course. But I just know the type of guy he is. He is never complacent, so that’s why I love to play with a guy like him.

“This is only a beginning for him, he’s going to keep improving each and every year, he is consistent. When you’re consistent, the work and the results are going to pay off.”

Kevin Coleman Pegged for 5th Round

The expectation for Coleman is that he will be a Day 3 pick. Dane Brugler, in his seven-round mock draft at The Athletic, has Coleman going No. 159, while Pro Football Focus rates him No. 167. NFL.com’s seven-round mock draft has Coleman going No. 154. The Browns have No. 146 and No. 149 in the fifth round.

While some would view Coleman’s proclivity for changing addresses as a negative, he said his transfers should help him going to the NFL.

Said Coleman: “It’s the playbook. You’ve got to learn different playbooks. You’ve got to learn coaches’ lingo, you got to learn how to adjust, you got to learn how to be coachable. But also, you gotta earn your teammates’ trust. Some guys might respect you, some guys not, but trust is everything. But at each school I had a different brotherhood, earn trust, make plays be more about actions, less words.”
