The Denver Broncos suffered a brutal injury during the AFC Divisional Round playoff matchup against the Buffalo Bills last season. Bo Nix went down with a season-ending ankle injury that forced him to miss the AFC Championship Game.
Unfortunately, the Broncos were unable to overcome that loss. They put up a fight against the New England Patriots, but came up short by a final score of 10-7.
Nix has been focused on rehabbing and getting back to full health for the 2026 NFL season. With that in mind, a new update has been shared about him.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Nix has undergone a follow-up clean-up procedure on the injured ankle.
“During his scheduled re-check with Dr. Norman Waldrop last week, Broncos QB Bo Nix had a successful and anticipated follow-up clean-up procedure on his ankle,” Rapoport wrote on X.
“While the team is expected to be conservative with his participation during the offseason program, Nix continues to make strong progress in his recovery and remains firmly on track to be ready for the start of training camp.”
Fans wasted no time taking to the comments section of Rapoport’s report. Some comments were positive, while others weren’t.
@cguzzle: “Can they do a surgery that makes him throw the ball better? They can’t? Oh well.”
@RaideRyan81: “Never gonna be the same after that busted ankle.”
@LAC_LACJ: “He gonna be ready for the season WE GONNA BE BACK.”
@PunisherParking: “Clean up procedure means it wasn’t right in the first place.”
@ProFootballDoc: “Clean up ankle scope is not unusual but ‘anticipated’ seems strong. Hope he continues to progress.”
@NateKreckman: “How long has this clean-up procedure been anticipated? We went from attacking rehab, ahead of schedule, and ready for OTAs to back under the knife rather quickly.”
In just two short years, Nix has the Broncos playing like one of the top contenders in the AFC. He put together another strong season in 2025.
Throughout the course of last year, the 26-year-old quarterback completed 63.4 percent of his pass attempts for 3,931 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He also ran for 356 yards and five more scores.
Back in his rookie season, Nix hit the ground running. He threw for 3,775 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, while also chipping in 430 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.
Hopefully, the recovery remains on schedule and the news gets better from here. There is clear concern about him being back under the knife, but Denver seems to feel good about his ability to be ready for Week 1.
