The Dallas Cowboys put together a strong performance in the 2026 NFL Draft. Jerry Jones was able to add quite a bit of young talent to bolster the roster, especially on the defensive side of the football.

While Super Bowls are not won during the NFL Draft for the following year, the team is in a better position for the future than they were just one week ago.

Jones has been focused on trying to get the Cowboys back into Super Bowl contention for the 2026 season. With that being said, Dallas is being urged to pursue an aggressive move late in NFL free agency.

Even though most of the top free agents have been signed, there are still some quality options available.

Cowboys Pushed to Sign Projected $13.7 Million Pass Rusher

Now that the NFL Draft is officially in the books, the Cowboys are being urged to consider a veteran pass rusher.

Nick Halden of FanSided has named Joey Bosa as the free agent that Dallas needs to sign following the NFL Draft.

“Already, fans are excited after a strong draft class brought in Lawrence and Caleb Downs to greatly bolster the team’s depth,” Halden wrote. “Signing Bosa feels like the perfect bookend to an offseason full of defensive upgrades. It is at least worth exploring and would give Bosa the chance to play for one of the league’s premier franchises.”

Bosa may not be the superstar that he once was during his prime with the Los Angeles Chargers. However, he is still capable of putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks. That is something the Cowboys could use more of before the start of the 2026 campaign.

What Would a 30-Year-Old Joey Bosa Bring to Dallas?

Last season with the Buffalo Bills, Bosa played in 15 games. He racked up 29 tackles, five sacks, five forced fumbles, and two defended passes.

Granted, those numbers don’t pop off the charts. He hasn’t had a double-digit sack season since 2021 with the Chargers when he recorded 10.5 Since then, he has recorded 2.5 sacks, 6.5 sacks, five sacks, and five sacks.

Despite the lower production in recent years, the five sacks and five forced fumbles last season show that Bosa can still impact a football game. Dallas would not need him to be a 10-sack player. He would simply need to be a pass rushing specialist in obvious passing situations.

That is a role he could thrive in. The Cowboys would be wise to at least look into the option.

Spotrac has projected Bosa to have a market value of around $13.7 million per season. A one-year deal would almost certainly be what it would take to land him.
