The Philadelphia Eagles found a gem in last year’s undrafted free agent class with wide receiver Darius Cooper. They might have found nother 1 this season in Ole Miss tight end Dae’Quan Wright.

Inside the Iggles’ Anthony Miller put Wright, 6-foot-4 and 246 pounds, at the top of his list of UDFA prospects who could make the 53-man roster in 2026.

“Philly’s tight end room is loaded, but Wright has size and hands to be a sleeper pick to make the roster,” Miller wrote. “The Eagles added a bunch of blocking tight ends to the room, but would prefer younger players to develop in this offense. Wright can do it all with some development needed, so the Eagles could take a chance on him and keep him behind fellow rookie Eli Stowers and veteran Dallas Goedert on the roster.”

Wright’s Steady Production at 2 College Stops

Wright started putting up numbers the moment he stepped on a college football field, including 2 seasons at Virginia Tech before playing his final 2 seasons at Ole Miss.

In 4 college seasons, including just 7 games as a true freshman at Virginia Tech, Wright finished with 113 receptions for 1,603 yards and 9 touchdowns in 47 games, with all 9 touchdowns in his final 2 seasons. He saved his best for last with career highs of 39 receptions for 635 yards and 5 touchdowns in 2025 as he helped lead Ole Miss to the College Football Playoff national semifinals.

NFL draft analyst Lance Zierlein predicted Wright would be a 7th-round pick or a priority free agent.

“Wright is a high-cut, tight-hipped tight end who can stretch the field vertically but lacks fluidity and bend for crisp route breaks from speed,” Zierlein wrote. “He builds speed to threaten defenses, working the vertical limbs of the route tree. He can gain an advantage on linebackers when aligned outside. He’s big and strong enough to improve as a run blocker but needs better technique and commitment in that area. Wright projects as a Day 3 pick who should fight for a role as a TE3/4.”

Eagles Spent Day 2 Pick on Mackey Award Winner

To be clear, Wright is competing for a spot as the 3rd tight end, and he’d have to beat out veteran Grant Calcaterra. The Eagles also believe they have a future star at the position in Stowers, a 2026 2nd-round pick (No. 54 overall).

Stowers, 6-foot-4 and 239 pounds, was the Mackey Award winner as the nation’s best tight end at Vanderbilt in 2025 and wowed scouts with a 4.51-second 40-yard dash and 45.5-inch vertical leap at the NFL scouting combine.

“The Eagles needed a long-term answer at the position and might have gotten it in Stowers,” ESPN’s Tim McManus wrote. “Dallas Goedert has been productive for them but is 31 years old and is on a one-year deal. The second round has been the sweet spot for the Eagles with tight ends: They selected Goedert 49th in 2018 and Zach Ertz 35th in 2013. Stowers has the stats — he had 769 receiving yards and four touchdown catches last season — and the measurables, as his vertical jump of 45.5 inches and broad jump of 11 feet, 3 inches at the combine are both the best by a TE on record (since 2003).”
