The New England Patriots have been in pursuit of a trade for Philadelphia Eagles star wideout A.J. Brown over the last couple of years. He has a good relationship with head coach Mike Vrabel from their time in Tennessee.

While the rumors have continued to persist, they have hit an all-time high this offseason.

In fact, the overwhelming expectation is that the two teams will work out a trade for Brown sometime around June 1. Brown is likely to become the newest weapon for the Patriots at some point this offseason.

Keeping that in mind, a major development has come out for New England. On Wednesday morning, Nate Atkins of The Athletic revealed that the Los Angeles Rams are not expected to be involved in trade talks for Brown moving forward.

“That aggressiveness is not expected to target Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver A.J. Brown despite earlier trade talks, a team source told The Athletic,” Atkins wrote.

Patriots Working Hard to Invest in Drake Maye’s Future

Last season, Drake Maye was one of the top MVP candidates in the NFL. He is a budding supersetar and the Patriots are doing everything they can to invest in him.

Earlier this offseason, New England worked out a deal in NFL free agency to land former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs. After moving on from Stefon Diggs, the additions of Doubs and Brown would give the Patriots one of the top wide receiver rooms in the league.

Maye ended the season completing 72 percent of his pass attempts for 4,394 yards, 31 touchdowns, and eight interceptions in 17 games. He also ran for 450 yards and four more touchdowns.

Adding Brown to his list of weapons would make Maye even more dangerous. When healthy and bought in, Brown is one of the best and most productive wide receivers in the NFL.

What Would A.J. Brown Bring to New England?

At this point in time, pretty much everyone knows what Brown has accomplished throughout his career.

Brown has played in seven seasons, catching a total of 524 passes for 8,029 yards and 56 touchdowns. He has produced over 1,000 receiving yards in all but one of his years.

Over the last couple of seasons, Brown has had some drama building with the Eagles. He has demonstrated some dramatics on the sideline and reports have come out that he has a fractured relationship with quarterback Jalen Hurts.

A change of scenery would be good for him. He is still 29 years old with some good years of elite football ahead of him.

For now, it seems like the next chapter of his career will be played in New England.
