This Steelers trade pitch would see the team acquire Will Levis from the Titans as a replacement for Aaron Rodgers

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a lot of work to do during the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft. Armed with a league-high 12 draft picks, the Steelers are going to be looking to reinforce their roster with a bevy of young players on cheap contracts. Of course, the one spot that is the biggest question mark heading into the draft is the quarterback position, as Aaron Rodgers is still mulling his future.

While Pittsburgh has remained confident that Rodgers will return for the 2026 season, the team needs to develop a long-term plan at this position during the draft. The overarching expectation is that the Steelers will use one of their picks on a quarterback, but let’s take a look at a unique trade pitch that would see them swing a deal with the Tennessee Titans for one of the league’s most forgotten passers, Will Levis.

Steelers’ Will Levis Trade Pitch

Steelers receive: QB Will Levis
Titans receive: 2026 fifth-round pick (No. 161)

The Titans selected Levis in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, but they kicked him to the curb for Cam Ward in last year’s draft. Levis and Ward were expected to compete for the starting quarterback job, but Levis ended up missing the entire year with a shoulder injury. Ward took over as the starter under center, and it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that Tennessee is going to stick with him moving forward.

Through 21 starts, Levis has been inconsistent at best (339/556, 3,899 YDS, 21 TD, 16 INT), as he’s shown flashes of his potential, only to follow it up by making a slew of absurd mistakes. Still, he’s only going to turn 27 years old in June, so it’s not as if he’s a lost cause just yet. The Steelers, who only have Mason Rudolph and Will Howard on their depth chart at quarterback, could benefit from taking a flier on a guy like Levis.

With Levis entering the final year of his rookie contract, the Titans will have extra motivation to move on from him, especially once the draft gets underway. As noted above, the Steelers have a ton of draft capital at their disposal, so flipping a fifth-round pick for a guy who could still potentially become their starter under center would be a good piece of business.

Would the Steelers, Titans Be Interested in This Will Levis Trade?

Even if Rodgers returns for one more season, the Steelers are going to need a long-term answer at quarterback sooner rather than later. There’s no guarantee Levis would succeed with Pittsburgh, but his upside is higher than that of Rudolph or Howard. Giving up a mere Day 3 pick for him is a price well worth paying when considering the team’s abundance of draft picks and their current quarterback situation.

While hanging onto Levis as insurance in the event Ward struggles would make sense for Tennessee, it will really only be able to do that for one more season before Levis presumably departs in free agency. Sure, this isn’t a massive return, but it’s better than nothing. With that being said, this is a trade that could be of interest for both teams as the draft unfolds.
