The 2026 NFL Draft is officially behind us, and it’s time to turn our attention to Bills players who could make an impact in Buffalo this season. Additionally, it’s a good opportunity to consider former players who might be looking for new teams.

There are typically three major waves of NFL free agency. The first occurs in the first week of the new league year in March. The second wave hits after the NFL Draft, as teams look to add players to positions they weren’t able to fill. Finally, the third wave comes before training camp begins in late July.

Former Bills Pass Rusher Joey Bosa Predicted to Land in The NFC

The second wave could start in the next few days, and Brandon Ray of Fansided predicted that former Bills free agent pass rusher Joey Bosa will sign with the San Francisco 49ers.

“I mean, it’s bound to happen, right? The 49ers not only need more depth coming off the edge, but bringing in Joey Bosa to play with his brother Nick Bosa makes too much sense. It’s kind of surprising that this potential signing hasn’t happened already,” Ray wrote on Saturday.

Bosa signed with the Bills last offseason after spending nine seasons with the Chargers. During his time there, he appeared in 107 games, recording 343 combined tackles, 87 tackles for loss, 72 sacks and 17 forced fumbles.

During his sole season in Buffalo, Bosa made quite an impact on the field, recording nine tackles for loss, five sacks and five forced fumbles. However, it never felt like he would stick around for another season with the Bills, as the team couldn’t reach an agreement to extend his contract during the season or at the beginning of the offseason.

When the Bills signed former Miami Dolphins pass rusher Bradley Chubb at the beginning of this offseason, it effectively laid the Bosa rumor to rest.

Bosa Can Try to Help The 49ers Win The Super Bowl

If Bosa ends up with the 49ers, it would be intriguing to see him play alongside his brother Nick. The 49ers, much like the Bills, have faced similar challenges in recent seasons, being recognized as one of the NFL’s top organizations yet struggling to clinch a Super Bowl victory.

The 49ers have reached two Super Bowls in the last seven seasons but have failed to win the big game, losing to the Kansas City Chiefs on both occasions. Meanwhile, the Bills, with their talented quarterback Josh Allen, have not yet reached the Super Bowl.

Bosa joined the Bills in hopes of helping them finally overcome their challenges and reach the Super Bowl. Yet, Buffalo didn’t even make it to the AFC Championship Game, losing in the divisional round to the Denver Broncos.

If Bosa does end up signing with the 49ers, he could help them overcome their Super Bowl struggles, as he tried to do with the Bills. Bosa likely has only a few more years left in the NFL, and if he joins the 49ers, it would be incredible to see him support his brother in the quest for a Super Bowl victory.
