FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Kevin Byard and A.J. Brown overlapped during their tenures in Tennessee, with the safety getting a close look at what the star receiver is truly capable of.

The two were teammates for three seasons with the Titans, and now it seems likely they will reunite, but this time in Foxborough. And on Tuesday, when speaking with reporters, Byard was asked if he’s talked with the receiver about this possibility.

“We trained together in Tennessee… But no, we honestly haven’t talked about it directly, and I don’t know what’s the situation here. I hope it can work out,” Byard said. “I hope he can come here and play for us, but that remains to be seen.

“I’m just trying to get to know the guys that we have here, from Rome (Romeo Doubs) to Pop (DeMario Douglas) and all these other guys that we have here. But if we’re able to get A.J., obviously, he’s incredibly talented, somebody I played with. He’s the true No. 1 receiver in this league, so that’d be awesome to pair up with him again.”

Kevin Byard Recalls Going Up Against A.J. Brown In Practice

Brown certainly left a lasting impression on Byard, with the safety spending some time recalling what it was like to go up against him in practice.

“He was unstoppable,” Byard said. “Obviously, A.J.’s very talented still. But young A.J. (had) a lot to prove, couldn’t be covered in one-on-ones. I remember, I think his rookie year, when AJ first came, I think he might have like a hammy or something like that, and he was getting himself back into shape and things like that.

“When you’re game playing against those guys, you still have to make sure you have the safety over top of A.J., which obviously opens up things for a lot of other players,” Byard said. “… Dictating that coverage is a big thing with receiver ones, because like I said, if you have a really good receiver two or receiver three now, you can win a lot of one-on-ones.”

And with that, there was one game that truly stood out to him.

“But I remember the first game that he really popped out was against the Falcons in Atlanta,” Byard added. “He scored two touchdowns, and I remember he caught like a slant and took it to the house. And at that point, I was like, ‘Yeah, he’s going to be a dog. He’s going to be a really good player.’ And he basically just took off since then.”

A.J. Brown Reportedly Shopping For A Condo In Massachusetts

Jim Murray of 98.5 the Sports Hub reports that A.J. Brown has started looking for property in Massachusetts ahead of the likely trade.

“Per Source: AJ Brown will be speaking with management at one of the big, fancy condo developments in the Seaport this week regarding residency,” Murray wrote. “I was asked to omit which specific one.”
