The Philadelphia Eagles already have 1 polarizing quarterback in NFL All-Pro and Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts, who seems to have fallen in everyone’s crosshairs this offseason.

Why not add another polarizing quarterback to the mix? And 1 who could be just as good down the road?

The Athletic’s Dane Brugler predicts the Eagles will select 6-foot-5, 233-pound University of Miami quarterback Carson Beck in the 4th round (No. 137 overall) in Brugler’s latest 7-round mock draft.

It would be the 3rd time in the last 4 years the Eagles have drafted a quarterback, following a pair of 6th round picks in current backup Tanner McKee in 2023 and Kyle McCord in 2025.

“Beck is a cerebral pocket passer who can lead drives when the offense stays in rhythm, but he isn’t a proven second-reaction quarterback when things don’t go according to plan,” Brugler wrote. “He projects as an NFL backup and potential spot starter.”

Beck threw for 3,813 yards, 30 touchdowns, 30 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions to go with 2 rushing touchdowns in his 1 season with the Hurricanes.

“Beck was considered a potential Day 1 riser over the course of his college career, but his time in the College Football Playoff with both Georgia and Miami has made his limitations clear,” ESPN’s Ben Solak wrote. “His accuracy and his arm talent are both only average, so he needs to be an impeccable decision-maker in order to thrive. But coverage rotations and pressure both bait him into poor choices, and it’s unlikely those habits will go away in the NFL for a player with so much experience already.”

Why Carson Beck Rubs People the Wrong Way

In the NIL era, few players have gotten to cash in like Beck did during 5 seasons at Georgia, in which he won 2 national championships as the backup to Stetson Bennett, then spent 2 seasons as the starter for the Bulldogs, followed by his 1 year at Miami.

By some reports, Beck was paid upwards of $4 million for coming to play a final season for the Hurricanes and made over $10 million during the entirety of his college football career.

He was also in a high-profile relationship with social media influencer and former college basketball player Hanna Cavinder that brought him plenty of attention. In February 2025, Beck and Cavinder were the target of car thieves who stole 3 vehicles out of their driveway — a Mercedes and a Lamborghini belonging to Beck and a Range Rover belonging to Cavinder.

So, on the list of things that will set a sports hater off the most, an underperforming quarterback with a famous girlfriend, millions of dollars, and a series of luxury cars worth more than what most Americans make in several years … well someone like that is probably pretty high on the list.

“When Carson Beck transferred from Georgia to Miami, he solidified his status as one of the highest-paid players in college football,” Yahoo Sports reporter Jake Mozarsky wrote in January 2026. “Lured by an NIL package from the Canes Connection collective reportedly worth between $4 million and $6 million, Beck’s move to Coral Gables was an expensive one, outearning nearly two dozen active NFL quarterbacks before even taking his first snap in a Hurricanes uniform.”
