The New Orleans Saints have a strong NFL Draft track record over the last decade, according to a new study.

The New Orleans Saints have been one of the most successful teams in the NFL Draft. That’s not hyperbole. That’s an observable reality. That track record is something fans are hoping will translate into another franchise leader this season.

So, just how successful have the Saints been in the NFL Draft? A study conducted by the folks at Betway Insider revealed that New Orleans has had the seventh-best track record in the NFL Draft.

It’s worth pointing out that this data goes back to the last 10 NFL drafts. It’s not some esoteric data set that looks at the all-time draft record. The study delves into the most recent picks, ones that remain relevant today.

The study measured draft success by looking at the Super Bowl wins, end-of-season awards, Pro Bowl selections, and All-Pro nominations. The totals combined to a maximum score of 100, with the Saints getting an 84.6 score.

Overall, the Saints have produced 11 players on the All-Rookie Team, six Pro-Bowlers, six All-Pro players, three award winners, and three Super Bowl champs.

That number put the Saints in the seventh spot out of all 32 teams. Unsurprisingly, the Kansas City Chiefs topped the list with a score of 94.5. The Detroit Lions, Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Rams, Dallas Cowboys, and Seattle Seahawks followed the Chiefs.

In contrast, the last-place team on the list, the Green Bay Packers, bottomed out at 13.3 points. That score pales in comparison to what the Saints have been able to accomplish over the last 10 drafts.

Saints Have Found Value Throughout NFL Draft

Many teams rely on first-round picks to find franchise players. Banking on first-rounders is a solid strategy. But they don’t always work out. There has been a decent dose of first-round busts that have made fans squirm over the years.

But for the Saints, finding value in often overlooked spots in the NFL Draft has been a worthwhile strategy. For instance, the club took current starting QB Tyler Shough in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, with the 40^th pick.

In 2019, the Saints picked Kaden Elliss in the seventh round with the 244^th-overall pick. New Orleans picked up Alvin Kamara in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, with the 67^th selection.

For teams in general, finding impact players in the later rounds is always crucial in building a consistent pipeline of talented players.

New Orleans Hopes to Find Value in 2026 NFL Draft

The biggest focus for the Saints in the 2026 NFL Draft will be the eighth overall selection. With several highly talented players, New Orleans can find its next great selection.

But beyond that first-rounder, the Saints will be looking to maximize their picks throughout the draft.

As it stands, the Saints have eight total picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. The club will pick at 8, 42, 73, 132, 136, 150, 172, and 190. With two picks in the fourth and fifth rounds, New Orleans can find solid prospects to boost crucial areas on both sides of the ball.

Of course, fans shouldn’t rule out the possibility of a draft-day trade. There’s plenty of speculation that New Orleans could move up in the first round. The likelihood of that happening could depend on which players go off the board first.
