Former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick and girlfriend Jordon Hudson went to the Kentucky Derby on Saturday afternoon. Hudson posted a photo on Instagram with a clever caption.

This is the 152^nd running of the Kentucky Derby. This edition of the Derby is also unique in the sense that it has one of the largest purses in the history of the event. The event itself is a 14-race slate. The field itself stands at 19 horses with a record $5 million purse. $3.1 million will be awarded to the winner of the Derby.

Bill Belichick Coming Off First College Season

Belichick is coming off his first season with the North Carolina Tar Heels. The 2025 season was a mixed bag of results on the field. They finished with a 4-8 record overall. This included a 2-6 record in ACC play. They opened the season with a 40-14 loss at the hands of TCU, marking a rocky start for the program. They were able to win their next two contests before falling to UCF by a 34-9 score.

The season was a mixed bag of results, right up until the end. The Tar Heels lost their final three games of the season, as the program battled on-field injuries. Gio Lopez was the starter to begin the year, but he got hurt during the UCF game. Max Johnson was able to take over for the rest of the year at the position.

Key contributors for North Carolina included sophomore wide receiver Jordan Shipp. The playmaker recorded 16 receptions for 671 yards. Freshman running back Demon June led the Tar Heels with 464 rushing yards. Even still, their contributions could not stop UNC from having its worst season since 2018.

Bill Belichick And Jordon Hudson Continuing Strong

Belichick and Hudson first met in February 2021. The two were seated near each other on an airplane and connected. Their relationship began in 2022, in a post on New Year’s Eve 2024 that revealed their “third midnights’ kiss.” The relationship progressed swiftly.  December 2024 saw them share the red carpet for the first time together, doing so at a gala for the American Museum of Natural History.  Business Insider’s Kristine Villarroel reported this.

Now, they are sharing Derby Day, which is a highly anticipated event. The trajectory of both Bill Belichick’s personal life and on-the-field life have changed significantly since leaving the Patriots organization in 2024. The coach will look to bring the Tar Heels back to prominence in his second season with the program. June and Shipp will both be returning to the program next year, signifying stability for the offense.

Things are looking up for Belichick since his departure from the Patriots. There is no doubt that his social media presence has been significantly elevated since he left the NFL. If anything, he is just getting with the times of his new job, as a new era of social media is encompassing college football. It is certainly an interesting development, given how tight-lipped he was with the Patriots.
