Noah Thomas #5 of the Georgia Bulldogs had a private NFL draft workout with the Dallas Cowboys.

The collegiate numbers for wide receiver Noah Thomas do not jump off the page, but there is obviously something that the Dallas Cowboys have seen in him that they like. The Cowboys, Thomas recently revealed, had him in for a private workout in the weeks before the NFL draft.

Physically, Thomas is impressive, a 6-foot-4, 200-pounder with four years of NCAA experience behind him. He played three seasons at Texas A&M before he transferred to Georgia and, in all, he appeared in 48 games, making 89 catches for 1,238 yards. He caught 16 passes in 2025 for the Bulldogs, going for 254 yards and four touchdowns.

After his sophomore season in College Station, Thomas appeared to be headed toward stardom, and led the Aggies in catches and yardage in 2024. But in transferring to the Bulldogs in a high profile move, Thomas might have set himself back. he never seemed to find traction with Georgia, though he showed a knack for getting into the end zone–a happy byproduct of his height. Thomas managed 19 touchdowns on those 89 catches in his career.

Noah Thomas Could Sign After NFL Draft

In a conversation with Justin Melo of SI.com, Thomas revealed that while he has drummed up interest from NFL teams, the Cowboys actually brought him to Frisco for a look.

Said Thomas: “I’ve had some Zoom meetings with the Cleveland Browns and Las Vegas Raiders. I also had private workouts with the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints. The Houston Texans took me out to dinner.”

Thomas does not typically crop up on draft boards, and might be a strong candidate to be an undrafted free agent after the draft. The Cowboys could bid on him then, and if he likes the prosect of joining a wide receiver room with CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens and Ryan Flournoy, he might make sense as a worthy UDFA gamble.

The Cowboys certainly have an inclination toward players like Thomas, overlooked coming out of the draft and hungry for a chance to prove themselves. Thomas clearly has talent and ability–there was a reason that Georgia was hot on his trail in the transfer portal.

Earlier in the season, Georgia coach Kirby Smart addressed the relative lack of production the team had gotten from Thomas.

“It’s really been unfortunate because there’s been some times that his shot or his number was called, and we didn’t necessarily protect it well or something happened or something came in the way,” Smart said. “He has not been phased by it — at least he’s not shown it to us. He works hard. He buys into the team morale and concept.”

Cowboys Could Add a WR

More generally, it will be interesting to see whether the Cowboys do look to add on offensively in this upcoming draft, whether with its picks or in the UDFA market.  The Top 3 receivers are obviously established now for the Cowboys, and KaVontae Turpin fits as a gadget player. But there is room for another young player in that mix.

The Cowboys are unlikely to draft one in the first few rounds, though they have had players like Indiana’s Omar Cooper Jr. and Chris Bell of Louisville in for Top 30 visits, signaling that they could at least have interest in adding a receiver in the coming days.
