The Seattle Seahawks head into the 2026 NFL season with their running back group still unsettled. The draft gives them a chance to fix that, but the bigger question is which direction they will go.

Seattle holds picks at No. 32, No. 64, No. 96, and No. 188, and any move at running back is likely to come within the first two days. One of the running backs that’s in the speculation talk surrounding the Seahawks is former Notre Dame Fighting Irish star Jadarian Price.

Nonetheless, the question is whether the Seahawks should take the player at No. 32 or go for a different player on Day 2. For Yahoo! Sports’ Nate Tice, the Seahawks shouldn’t use their first-round pick on the running back.

“I do think that he is more a guy I’m comfortable with around pick 50,” Tice said during an April 22 appearance on Seattle Sports. “I would call it somewhere in the mid-second to late second. Having said that, it’s a very, very shallow running back class.

“After that would be Jonah Coleman from Washington, but I would still be more comfortable with him in Round 3. And so I understand the kind of need for a running back, you know, and also just the big drop-off at the position as well.”

Seahawks Urged to Take Jadarian Price at No. 32

Meanwhile, Seattle Sports’ Mike Salk believes that general manager John Schneider needs to go running back with the No. 32 pick and select Price rather than gamble and take a different running back on Day 2.

“It is always difficult to say a team should draft a running back in the first round. We have learned our lesson, and that is not a position you want to consider at that level of value,” Salk said in an April 19 video. “This year might be a little different for the Seahawks for a couple of reasons. It is pick No. 32, not pick No. 16. So when you say it is a first-round pick, it is, but it is very close to the second round, especially in what is generally considered a weak draft.

“This year, the running backs available include only two who are starter-quality, game-changing options. The Seahawks do need a running back after letting Kenneth Walker go, losing Zach Charbonnet to injury, and not having many other players on the roster who can carry the rock as often as someone like Jadarian Price could. I do think they should draft him at No. 32 if he is available.”

Insider Says Jadarian Price Will Go in Round 1

Moreover, while Tice sees Price as a Day 2 pick, in his mailbag column, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer explained why he could see Price being a first-round pick.

“I think it’s possible that Jadarian Price, Jeremiyah Love’s backup at Notre Dame, has an outside shot to sneak in the bottom of the round, on the premise that there is a big dropoff after the two Irish backs go,” Breer wrote in his April 15 article.

“In other words, if you have a need at the position, you may view Price as your last chance to get a ready-made starter in this year’s class, so you may push him up the board a little bit.”

Last season at Notre Dame, Price earned a 78.6 overall PFF grade. Moreover, his PFF rushing grade of 79.9 ranked 157th among 406 qualified running backs. He carried the ball 113 times for 674 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. Price averaged 6.0 yards per attempt on the ground.

Price forced 32 missed tackles as a runner and averaged 3.9 yards after contact per attempt. As a receiver, he caught six passes on seven targets for 87 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
