Pro Football Focus' Thomas Valentine named former Green Bay Packers guard Jon Runyan a cut candidate for the New York Giants.

The Green Bay Packers made a major roster decision on Friday, moving on from veteran kicker Brandon McManus.

Outside of that move, the Packers have been very quiet since the conclusion of the 2026 NFL Draft. Fans continue to wait and hope that Brian Gutekunst and the front office might have other moves up their sleeves.

Following the draft, there are still a few question marks about Green Bay’s roster. Some believe that another running back is a big need, others would like to see the team address the cornerback position a bit more, and pass rushing is always a need.

Looking closer at the pass rush, the Packers were able to add Penn State standout Dani Dennis-Sutton in the fourth round. He will have a chance to make an immediate impact in Green Bay. There are some who still think the team should pursue a veteran option.

Keeping that in mind, the Packers have been linked once again to a free agent pass rusher.

Packers Urged to Consider Signing Jadeveon Clowney

Dharya Sharma of The Sporting News believes that the Packers should sign Clowney late in free agency.

“Pairing Parsons with a battle-tested veteran like Clowney would give the Packers’ pass rush a spark, and with the 33-year-old being more suited in a complementary role, his presence would still open the door for Van Ness, Dennis-Sutton, and Sorrell to earn playing time,” Sharma wrote.

“Clowney would also be a fantastic fit in Jonathan Gannon’s defense. Though Gannon’s base scheme is a 3-4 defense, the new Packers defensive coordinator will also mix in other schemes, such as a 4-3. That bodes well for Clowney, who stated in an April interview that he has the ability to play in every defensive scheme.”

Clowney is coming off of a 2025 season with the Dallas Cowboys where he played well and was a consistent starter. He would be a very intriguing addition for the Green Bay defense.

What Would Jadeveon Clowney Bring to Green Bay?

At 33 years old, the former No. 1 overall pick proved last season that he still has good football left in him.

Throughout the course of the 2025 season with the Cowboys, Clowney played in 13 games. He racked up 41 total tackles to go along with 8.5 sacks, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and four defended passes.

While he has never quite lived up to the hype that he entered the NFL with, he has had a very strong career. He has played in 153 career games and totaled 450 tackles, 66.5 sacks, 16 forced fumbles, 11 fumble recoveries, an interception, a defensive touchdown, and 36 defended passes.

Should the Packers still want to add more pass rushing depth, Clowney would be an excellent option. There is no legitimate reporting of interest from Green Bay, but he’s a name worth keeping an eye on for now.
