Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett was a no-show for the team's offseason program.

The Cleveland Browns cleaned up in the NFL draft for the second year in a row, and their exceptional series of rookie acquisitions didn’t stop there.

Two days after trading down from pick No. 6 to No. 9, landing two assets in Rounds 3 and 5, respectively, and still acquiring their favored option in offensive tackle Spencer Fano out of Utah, the Browns signed Spencer’s brother, Logan Fano, as an undrafted rookie free agent.

Logan Fano, an edge-rusher who played alongside his brother at Utah, inked a three-year deal worth more than $3.1 million that includes $310,000 guaranteed. His connection to Cleveland’s top pick in 2026, as well as his lucrative deal (by UDFA standards) indicate a likelihood that he will end up either a member of the final 53-man roster, or at least land a spot on the practice squad.

Another factor working in his favor is that Cleveland is thin off the edge behind Myles Garrett, which positions Logan Fano as a strong value option to fill in as a depth piece at a premier position of need for a roster on the rise in Northeast Ohio.

“Cleveland could use help on the back end of its edge rotation,” Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report wrote Thursday, April 30, when predicting Logan Fano as the most likely UDFA to make the Browns roster. “Garrett recorded an NFL record 23 sacks in 2025, but Alex Wright was the only other edge to record more than three.”

Browns Fielded Top-5 NFL Defense for Second Time in 3 Years

Cleveland’s defense was the No. 4-ranked unit in the league last year after coming in as the top group in the NFL during the 2023 campaign.

The defensive front is a big reason why, where the Browns added No. 5 overall pick Mason Graham as a tackle during the 2025 draft. Cleveland also drafted last year’s Defensive Rookie of the Year in linebacker Carson Schwesigner with the No. 33 pick (first overall selection of Round 2).

Former Toledo safety Emmanuel McNeil-Warren fell unexpectedly to the Browns at No. 58 overall in Round 2 of last weekend’s draft, which looks like another massive win for general manager Andrew Berry and his front office.

Knox noted Bleacher Report Scouting Department contributor Matt Holder’s assessment that Logan Fano was a “draftable prospect,” despite his ultimate status as a UDFA signing who can develop into a “solid run defender and power rusher on the edge” for the Browns at the next level.

Logan Fano Brings Play Style to Edge Position That Browns Prefer

Logan Fano produced 18 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks across three seasons with Utah (28 games).

Garrett, beyond his status as the best pass-rusher in the league and reigning/unanimous Defensive Player of the Year, is also an elite run defender and led the NFL in tackles for loss (33) for the second consecutive season in 2026.

Heading into his first campaign, Logan Fano is a far cry from Garrett, who was the No. 1 overall selection in the 2017 draft. That said, he plays in a similar mode as Garrett across both phases of defense, which bodes well for his chances of making the team and contributing as a rookie.
