The Seattle Seahawks revealed their grade on Los Angeles Rams 13th overall pick Ty Simpson. They stated they only had a third round grade on the quarterback, signifying a sense a relief that the Rams took him over a prospect who could help them win now. ESPN’s Brady Henderson revealed the news on NFL Live.

The Los Angeles Rams entered the 2026 offseason ready to win now, and that is still their plan obviously. However, reactions from their own fans and rivals alike indicate that the Rams potentially left room for improvement on the table. Instead of selecting a wide receiver like Makai Lemon, or an edge rusher like Rueben Bain Jr., the opted to take their quarterback of the future.

Seattle Seahawks Feeling Comfortable After Ty Simpson Selection

GettyNFL Draft Analysts viewed Ty Simpson as a day two prospect.

Henderson revealed the feelings the Seattle Seahawks processed after the Simpson selection.

He said, “They had a third-round grade on Ty Simpson, and as you know, sometimes teams will kind of squirm and get nervous when a team in their division drafts a player. I can tell you, this was not the case with the Seahawks and Ty Simpson.”

The Seattle Seahawks probably realize that Simpson could develop under Sean McVay’s leadership. However, Seattle clearly thought that the Rams planned on selecting a player who would help them win this season.

Henderson added, “I don’t think the Seahawks were at all disappointed to see  [Simpson who’s] probably not going to help [the Rams] out much this season.”

Outside of Simpson, The Seahawks largely look prepared for the 2026 season after the NFL Draft after addressing several positions of need with players like Jadarian Price, Bud Clark, and Julian Neal. Recently, they signed Dante Fowler to a one year contract to bolster their defensive line.

The Rams overall failed to capture the momentum of their season outside of the trade for Trent McDuffie. PFF graded their draft with a C.

They said, “Simpson has just one year of starting experience, and Los Angeles is betting that the time spent behind Stafford and with Sean McVay will help clean up some of the timing and ball placement inconsistencies in his game.”

Oddsmakers Still Favor Rams over Seahawks

GettySeattle currently resides behind the Rams in odds prior to the NFL Season.

NFL oddsmakers currently have the Los Angeles Rams as the favorite for both the NFC West and the Super Bowl. Despite being reigning champions, the Seattle Seahawks seem disrespected on the odds board, especially considering the selection of Simpson.

The Rams are about +140 on average to win the division and about +750 to win the Super Bowl. The Seahawks are about +165 to win the division and about +1000 to win the Super Bowl.

Despite the selection of Simpson, bettors and oddsmakers still favor the Rams over the Seahawks. Perhaps the addition of McDuffie is enough for the Rams to improve their secondary. However, adding another receiver like Lemon over Simpson would have likely scared the Seahawks more.
