Cowboys potential coaching candidate Brian Flores

The Minnesota Vikings, like they always have across the entire franchise’s history, doesn’t have the most attractive room of cornerbacks.

With Byron Murphy Jr. and Isaiah Rodgers Sr. as the top two returning corners from 2025, there wasn’t any depth behind them. That was until the Vikings signed former Steelers CB James Pierre in free agency. It’s clear that the Vikings weren’t comfortable going into the draft with Dwight McGlothern as a top 3 CB on the roster.

Now, the Vikings have been brought up in trade speculation regarding a veteran corner and team captain from the AFC.

Vikings Mentioned as Trade Suitor for Colts CB Kenny Moore II

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Moore II and the Colts have decided it’s time to find a new home for the veteran. Destin Adams of AtoZ Sports made a case that the team he goes to should be the Vikings.

“The Minnesota Vikings already have one former Colts corner in their secondary in Isaiah Rodgers, so why not reunite them? Moore would join Rodgers and Byron Murphy Jr. as Minnesota’s starting corner trio for 2026.

Moore has been a real weapon as a pass rusher during his career. Brian Flores would be able to maximize that more than maybe anyone in the NFL. Rodgers also isn’t the only familiar face Moore would be joining if he were to be traded to Minnesota. Will Fries also signed there last offseason and is a starting guard for their offense.”

Adding Moore II to a needy secondary would obviously be a welcome idea. However, it’s hard to imagine where he’d fit in in 2026. While the Vikings’ corner room isn’t spectacular, the addition of James Pierre to a room with Rodgers Sr. and Murphy Jr. might make it hard to decide who takes the knock in playing time. It’s safe to assume it wouldn’t be Byron Murphy Jr.

Having too many corners is a good thing, however. Minnesota could take a look at Kenny Moore II and try and figure out the fine details later.

Minnesota Doing ‘A Ton of Homework’ on Wake Forest RB Demond Claiborne

Adam Carlson of The Viking Age recently mentioned a report from ESPN’s Jordan Reid while on The Alec Lewis Show. In this appearance, Reid reported something quite notable for all Vikings fans.

“[Claiborne’s] somebody that I’ve heard they like quite a bit. Crazy enough, my comp for him is Aaron Jones, so it makes sense.”

Carlson provided more insight into Claiborne.

“Claiborne spent four seasons at Wake Forest, where he played in 44 games, carrying the ball 558 times for 2,599 yards and 26 touchdowns while adding 55 receptions for 424 yards and two more scores.

NFL.com projects the 22-year-old rusher to be a fifth-round pick in the draft. His athleticism score is a healthy 74, but his production score of 56 drags his total score to 67. His prospect grade of 6.1 shows a belief that the five-foot-ten, 188-pound running back could develop into a starter in the NFL“

If the Vikings really are all-in on Claiborne, they’ll either have to reach on him in the third round or hope that he falls to them in the fifth round around the 161st pick. That is, unless Minnesota swings a trade put themselves in better position for him, whether that’s a trade up or a trade down.
