New England  Patriots wide receiver Romeo Doubs discussed how the Patriots offense is different from the Green Bay Packers offense. He met with the media on Tuesday afternoon and gave praise to offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.

The wide receiver was a key signing for the organization during free agency in March. He signed a four-year $60 million contract, giving the Patriots a playmaker at the wide receiver position. Doubs will be tasked with helping light a fire on the Patriots’ offensive unit. He could be just part of the moves the Patriots employ at the position, with A.J. Brown rumors still flying.

In the meantime, he is confident that Josh McDaniels’ offense can enhance his skill set. Sleeper’s Carlos Lopez reported this.

“Yes. Yes. Just being around him, being in his system, understanding his system thus far, I can already see how he thinks… It’s a completely different mind… That’s something you need as a player. Different game plans, different perspectives, different concepts, ways to run routes. It’s just something to see, and I’m blessed to be around it.”

Patriots Wideout Can Be Major Playamaker

Doubs can be a big-time playmaker for the Patriots organization showed flashes of it during his time in Green Bay, as evidenced by his usage. He had 55 receptions for 724 yards and six touchdowns last season. This is even more exemplified by another metric, yards after catch. He only averaged three yards after the catch in 2025, which signifies that he is more of a downfield type of player, as opposed to someone who succeeds most in screens or the short passing game.

Patriots Offense Thrived In 2025

When you look at the Patriots’ offense under McDaniels last season, there is certainly reason to be optimistic. Doubs should undoubtedly have optimism as well. McDaniels and the Patriots were a highly functioning offensive unit. They went from 17 points per game in 2024 to 28.8 points per game in 2025. In terms of how that ranked across the league, the Patriots went from 30^th in the NFL up to second in the NFL in that category.

There was a correlation between scoring and yards as well. The Patriots experienced a significant jump in that area. They went from 292 yards per game in 2024 to 379.4 yards per game in 2025. This marked a leap from 31^st to second. Quarterback Drake Maye experienced a major second-year leap, throwing for 4,394 yards, 31 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.

It’s certainly reasonable to expect that McDaniels will be able to put Doubs in spots to succeed. Historically, McDaniels has been able to take wide receivers and make them function in his offensive system. Look no further than Wes Welker and Julian Edelman. Both players were able to make a living as dependable slot receivers for Tom Brady and the Patriots. They were also able to function at a high level in a McDaniels-led system. The offensive coordinator has a knack for not only putting his quarterbacks in positions to succeed but also playing to the strengths of his wide receivers.

It will certainly be exciting for Patriots fans to see Doubs in the offense next year. Will be even more exciting to see if New England can grab a top receiver to pair with Doubs, giving the latter more freedom in the offense. The Patriots made several important moves that were under the radar over the course of the past couple of months. Doubs has generated praise from analysts during the offseason, and he appears to be ready to go.
