How The Bear Ended After 5 Seasons

'The Bear' to End After Season 5

This article contains spoiler for The Bear season five.

The ovens are shut down at The Bear. Well, metaphorically.

After five seasons, the FX show starring Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Liza Colón-Zayas, Lionel Boyce and Abby Elliott has come to its official end. And while it seemed like Carmy’s culinary baby might not have a future—contending with floods, a broken oven and the end of its funding—The Bear proved it’s got the chops (literally) to go the distance.

The restaurant is saved by what is ultimately a perfect storm of good fortune. Not only does the business plan that line cook Ebra (Edwin Lee Gibson) came up with about franchising The Beef set the team up for financial success, but, as it turns out, the calls that Carmy has been dodging all season were from an important caller: the real star man.

Indeed, while The Bear staff thought they were serving Star Man during the flooded service from hell, it turns out the real Star Man is a man named Peter Clark who actually dined at the restaurant months earlier unbeknownst to the team at the time. (Oops.)

And after speaking with Peter on the phone, Carmy is able to reveal to Sydney (Edebiri) that The Bear is earning not one, but two Michelin stars. And with that, its ongoing success is sealed.

As for Carmy’s future, despite his real culinary talent, he stuck to his decision to step away from food for good. At the close of season five, the talented chef has set his sights on a different creative endeavor, signing up to be an intern at an architectural firm. As for his love life, the season’s very last scene shows Claire (Molly Gordon) at his side at a family celebration.

Meanwhile, for Tina (Colón-Zayas), Marcus (Boyce) and Richie (Moss-Bachrach), the latter’s optimism paid off: Each of them will be staying on at The Bear, with Tina acting as Chef de Cuisine, Marcus the master of all desserts exiting the kitchen and Richie continuing to spearhead the front of house. That is, of course, after he travels to Japan with his right-hand woman and new love Jess (Sarah Ramos) by his side to attend a hospitality seminar.

Also sticking with The Bear are Neil Fak (Matty Matheson) and Ted Fak (Ricky Staffieri), the dynamic duo who create as much chaos as they save, as well as sommelier Sweeps (Corey Hendrix).

As for Natalie “Sugar” Berzatto (Elliott), she will continue to stand at The Bear’s financial helm, guiding the restaurant through any choppy waters that may arise. (Hopefully metaphorical this time, now that the pipes have been fixed.)

For the cast of the FX series—which has earned 49 Emmy nominations and 21 wins since its 2022 premiere—saying goodbye isn’t easy.

“It would be hard to replicate,” White told E! News ahead of season five’s drop. “Getting to witness everybody do the work at the level that they do has been a real gift, and I think we've found such an ease and comfort around one another that doesn't come easily. Everybody on the show is really kind, really good at the core. We get excited by seeing each other succeed.”

As the 35-year-old noted, “I feel very lucky for that, that real feeling of a family.”

It’s a sentiment echoed by Colón-Zayas.

“I'm gonna miss being in that kitchen watching these human beings kill it,” she added in her joint interview with White. “They’re so incredible to watch, that sometimes I forget—like staring at you guys do your thing, and to watch the crew, how kind they are—I hope I have another experience that meets that level.”

Will Poulter

While some fans thought the Maze Runner actor—who plays Luca on The Bear—cooked up onscreen chemistry with costars Ayo Edebiri and Lionel Boyce on the Hulu series, Will sparked IRL romance rumors with Bobby T (real name Erin Campaneris).

But years after the Midsommar star was spotted heating things up with the model in 2022, she revealed their romance had gone cold.

"I was in a real relationship for almost three years," she wrote in a 2025 Instagram Stories post. "We shared homes. We built a life together. We planned the details of our wedding."

But ultimately, they just didn't commit.

"One day with no warning and no signs of trouble he ended it over WhatsApp," wrote Bobby, who shares a son with Mark Sanchez. "That was it. Just gone." Poulter has not responded publicly to her claims.

Ayo Edebiri

The Golden Globe winner—who stars as Sydney Adamu on the show—may have raised eyebrows when describing her friendship with costar Jeremy Allen White as "intimate," but she's insisted that her relationship with her castmate is strictly platonic.

As for who she does have romantic feelings for? Her relationship with comedian Colin Burgess was revealed in September 2022, when Colin, shared photos to Instagram of him attending the Emmy Awards alongside the Bottoms actress. Captioning the carousel, he wrote, "Congrats to my gf Ayo on presenting her first Emmy."

Though the duo have since split, Ayo isn't sharing the details.

"I'm not going to show you guys my personal life, because you’re so weird about my work life," she explained to The Wall Street Journal. "People are often surprised by my boundaries because I am very open. But I'm also the type of person where if you cross it, you’ve crossed it for life."

Jeremy Allen White and Molly Gordon

The Shameless alum and Theater Camp star confirmed they had taken their onscreen romance as Carmy and Claire offscreen when they were spotted locking lips on a Los Angeles street in September 2024. A month later, they stepped out for a cozy date night together in New York City.

But prior to their PDA-filled nights out, Jeremy's love life was already making headlines. In September 2023, he split from ex Addison Timlin—the pair welcomed daughters Ezer in 2018 and Dolores in 2020—following four years of marriage. And one month later, he was photographed on a farmer's market outing with singer Rosalía

Ebon Moss-Bachrach

The Emmy winner won over millions of hearts as loveable divorcé Richie Jerimovich on The Bear, but off camera, he's happily partnered up with Yelena Yemchuk. The couple—who have together for more than two decades—welcomed daughter Sasha in 2007 and daughter Maribelle in 2010.

Liza Colón-Zayas

The actress isn't only collecting Emmy Awards when it comes to her performance as Tina Marrero on The Bear, she's also winning in her personal life. Wed to David Zayas in 1998 the pair share son David, plus his daughter Leanna from a previous relationship.

Abby Elliott

The Saturday Night Live alum—who cooks up plenty of stern glances as Carmy's sister Natalie "Sugar" Berzatto on the comedy drama—welcomed her second child, a baby boy named William "Billy" Joseph Lunney Kennedy IV, with her husband Bill Kennedy in 2023. The couple—who tied the knot in 2016—also welcomed daughter Edith Pepper in 2020.

Matty Matheson

The real-life chef may have trouble committing to a task as his character Neil Fak on The Bear, but he has no trouble committing to love in his real life. Marrying Trish Spencer in 2014, the couple have welcomed three kids together.

Jon Bernthal

The Walking Dead alum breaks hearts as Carmy's late older brother Michael on The Bear, but off-screen he's a one-woman man. Jon has been married to Erin Angle since 2010, and the couple share two sons, Billy and Henry

Lionel Boyce

The Odd Future member has never publicly confessed to falling in love with someone IRL, but he has spoken out about falling in love with his role as pastry chef Marcus on the Hulu show.

"He wants to live up to Carmy’s expectations and those kinds of things, but I don’t think it’s because of a lack of confrontation from being gentle," Lionel told Deadline in 2024. "It’s just simply, 'Yeah, I don’t need to engage when I don’t need to. There’s no reason.' I think he just understands there’s a path of life where you can get worked up and fight and bump heads with everybody, or you can just not, and he just chooses not to."
