However, just as it seems like Monica might actually make her escape, the woman driving the rideshare Monica had called drives pointedly past the exit for LAX, and the lawyer knows her fate is sealed. It’s not one she tries to fight, just making one request of her soon-to-be assassin, “Please, not the face.”

And her wish is granted, as it is revealed Monica was shot twice in the chest when her body is discovered on the side of the road the next day.

For Bridget, as sad as she was to see her four-season arc on The Rookie come to a close, she also has always known Monica was walking a tightrope. 

“Truly, I was not surprised,” she told TV Insider in an interview published April 27. “I was thrilled that she lasted as long as she did. If you play with fire, as long as she has, eventually you’re going to get burned. And as I said everybody, I was like, she’s not on her ninth life. She’s on her 37th. She’s escaped multiple assassinations and prison time and being thrown in a woodchipper.”

So, “when her number was finally up, I wasn’t surprised,” the 44-year-old said. “I thought, ‘Fair enough.’ She’s had an amazing run, four years on this show. I’m only filled with gratitude.”

And yet, Bridget was still overcome by emotions when Monica finally succumbed to her dangerous lifestyle.

“What I was surprised by was just how incredibly sad I was for her,” she said. “Not that she died, but that she never truly flipped, that she actually succumbed to the dark side and couldn’t find her way back.”

She continued, “I felt like there was this version of Monica that could have been something else, but she just could never get there. So, to me, that was the real heartbreak of it all.”
