Hailee Steinfeld Details Her Postpartum Recovery After Welcoming Baby

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen may have caught the title of NFL's MVP for 2024, but if he could nominate someone for this season of life, it'd undoubtedly be his bride of nearly a year, Hailee Steinfeld.

"I've got an absolute rockstar of a wife," the athlete shared during an April 20 press conference, noting how she's taken one for the team so to speak by hunkering down with their newborn daughter and "doing so many things right now and allowing me to be here right now and be with my teammates." 

Though they clearly both feel as if they're winning at life. 

"To say we are unbelievably happy and in love with this baby girl would be an understatement," the actress wrote in her Beau Society Substack newsletter April 3, two days after she revealed their little one had arrived. "I'm soaking in the newborn bliss." 

And it wasn't all that long ago she was enjoying a different sort of post-game victory lap. 

At the time, the 29-year-old wasn't yet ready to reveal that they'd signed a new member to their squad. But she acknowledged that "of course" they'd thought about it. "I feel like I am stepping into the version that I've always dreamed of being, having so much to do with being with him."

And they've reached that place together.

As Josh put it in June, "She makes everything easier, so I don't really focus on the other stuff. That was the most important decision I'll make in my life—and I made the right one."

Needless to say, the proposal—which Hailee and Josh announced on Instagram by posting a photo of him down on one knee in front of a flower arch, array of candles and oceanfront view as the sun set—was a total touchdown.

"I said I couldn’t wait any longer," he gushed in the newsletter. "I said I can’t wait to start a family with you. I said your full name, and I asked you very nicely. I said please."

But no need to beg for a recap on Hailee and Josh’s love story.

The pair first sparked romance rumors in May 2023 after they were spotted grabbing dinner in New York, and fans figured the two were in the relationship zone after they were spotted kissing in Mexico less than two months later.

Although, Josh wasn’t thrilled the paparazzi intercepted their privacy.

"The fact anybody cares about that still blows my mind," he said on an August 2023 episode of the Pardon My Take podcast. "They were on a boat. I saw it, and I just felt this gross feeling. Just like insecurity, no privacy. I was just like, 'What is wrong with you?'"

And while Josh and Hailee stayed mostly tight-lipped on their life together, they continued to be spotted out—including the times she turned up to cheer on his squad and their joint outings to root for local hockey team the Buffalo Sabres.

As time went on, the Dickinson actress and the NFL player began giving followers glimpses into their turf—appearing in videos shared by each other's families, posting pictures from their trip to Paris and uploading snaps of their circus-themed Halloween party.

And when it comes to their careers, they're each other's biggest cheerleaders—with Hailee standing by his side at the 2025 NFL Honors in February (where he called her his "rock" and best friend) and Josh joining her at the premiere of her movie Sinners in April.

"It means everything," the Pitch Perfect alum exclusively told E! News about her husband's support. "I’m so proud of him and everything that he does, every single day, let alone during the season. I’m just so grateful to be able to share this with him as well."

And as Hailee and Josh continue to deal with the public attention, they’ll likely be calling their own plays in terms of sharing what feels right to them.
