How Jimmy Kimmel Is Supporting Stephen Colbert for Late Show Finale
Stephen Colbert wouldn't be blue if this actress was his Valentine.
The Late Show host revealed Michelle Williams became his biggest celebrity crush when he first interviewed her back in 2016.
"I’ll tell you who I did not expect to be wildly attracted to," Colbert confessed on a Strike Force Five podcast reunion episode May 13, alongside Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, John Oliver and Jimmy Fallon. "I didn’t know what to do with myself. Because I don't—ehh I like this person's work, but I never thought of them as a bombshell. I did not know what to do with my eyeballs when Michelle Williams was on for the first time."
Colbert, 62, couldn't help but pile on more praise for the Dawson's Creek alum, 45.
"She sat down across from me, and I went, 'F--k, what is wrong with my head?'" he explained of a time when he interviewed Williams. "I’d better not look directly at her for this entire interview!"
And there was a reason the Manchester By The Sea star was so memorable for Colbert, who married Evelyn Colbert in 1993.
"It was something about her vibe, her face, everything," Colbert said of the actress. “She's so beautiful."
But considering Colbert spent years interviewing Hollywood stars on The Late Show—which will end May 21 after 11 seasons—Williams wasn't the only Oscars contender that he had "trouble with" being distracted by on stage.
"I used to have a Rachel Weisz problem. I've recovered," Colbert joked. "When Rachel Weisz would be on The Daily Show, I would leave the building for fear that I would say something stupid."
"I was afraid I would go 'hi,'" Colbert mimicked himself in a high-pitched voice, "'you were great in The Constant Gardener.'"
But as much as the comedian has been impressed by A-listers, no one has stolen his heart like his wife Evelyn.

Colbert met his partner—who is an actress and producer—in line at a movie theatre in 1990, as he shared during a 2019 episode of The Late Show. After two hours of talking, the comedian was "completely taken."
"That's her. There's your wife. You're going to marry her," Colbert recognized in the moment, adding that it didn't take long for him to realize that, "There is absolutely, bar none, no one who comes close [to Evelyn]. And the most harrowing idea would be that I would spend any part of my life without her because that would be a level of loneliness and irreplaceable, irredeemable emotional desolation that I could not possibly contemplate."

From that point on, the Rhode skincare mogul and the singer maintained a friendship before dating on and off for several years and then jumping right into tying the knot in September 2018. They said "I do" a second time the following year and welcomed baby Jack Blues Bieber in August 2024.

The Queen and Slim actress revealed to W Magazine in January 2020 that she first fell for her now-estranged husband on his hit teen drama Dawson's Creek.

Like many Game of Thrones viewers, the singer was a fan of Sansa—so much so that he eventually slid into Sophie Turner's DMs in 2016.
"We had a lot of mutual friends, and they'd been trying to introduce us for a long time," Turner revealed to Harper's Bazaar U.K. in 2019. "We were following each other on Instagram and he direct-messaged me one fine day, out of the blue."

Olivia Munn and John Mulaney
Six years before they were spotted together, Olivia Munn revealed in an interview that she was a big fan of John Mulaney.
"We were at a wedding together and I was like, 'Oh my gosh, do you and your fiancée want to go have dinner or something and go hang out?" the actress recalled to HuffPost Live in 2015 about meeting the comedian, who was previously married to Anna Marie Tendler. "At first it was cool, and then I kept going up to him at the wedding, like, 'So you having fun?'"
She continued, "I was just so obsessed with hanging out with and talking with him." Munn then said she emailed Mulaney afterward but never heard back, joking, "I might've got the wrong email...that's what I tell myself."
Eventually, she got a message back—and more. In 2021, she gave birth to their son Malcolm. However, Munn noted she and Mulaney were just getting to know each other when she found out she was pregnant.
“It wasn’t anything close to 'dating.' I barely knew him," The X-Men: Apocalypse star told GQ in November 2024 before describing how they originally planned to just co-parent. "It wasn’t necessarily 'We're going to be married and live together' or any of that, but it was 'I will be involved in some way.'"
Ultimately, their bond grew. Mulaney was there for Munn after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023. They wed in July 2024 and welcomed daughter Méi via surrogate in September of that year.

Well before TomKat became a pop culture sensation, Katie Holmes was a big fan of the Top Gun star.
In October 2004, the Dawson's Creek star gushed to Seventeen magazine, "I think every little girl dreams about her wedding. I used to think I was going to marry Tom Cruise."
Holmes' former costar Mary Beth Peil also weighed in on the star's massive crush on Cruise, telling The Daily Beast in 2018, "She said, 'I have had a crush on him since I was 15, and his posters were on the walls of my bedroom.'
