Billy Porter Reveals He Hasn't Been Invited Back to Met Gala Since 2019 Appearance
Anna Wintour is getting meticulous about the Met.
In the final days leading up to the Met Gala 2026, the Vogue Global Editorial Director, who has overseen fashion’s biggest night for over 30 years, shared a glimpse inside her brain.
As she told E! News in an exclusive interview at the King’s Trust Gala in New York April 29, her days currently involve “a lot of seating charts.”
Of course, the 76-year-old is not alone in the planning. For one, she has the “Costume Art” themed evening’s co-chairs, including Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Beyoncé, who will make her grand return to the Metropolitan Museum of Art benefit after a 10-year hiatus.
And while Nicole has been a regular attendee of the event in the last few years, she is once again stepping, or rather sitting, in the co-chair position after over 20 years.
“This is—I think it’s the third time I’ve co-chaired—but to do it now?” Nicole, who previously helped host the party in 2003 and 2005, said during an appearance on Las Culturistas last month. “I’m so, so happy.”
Indeed, the Bewitched actress—who shares Bella Cruise, 33, Conor Cruise, 31, with ex Tom Cruise, as well as Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15, with ex Keith Urban—revealed she’s especially thrilled as her elder teen will accompany her as her date.
She mused that Sunday, who has recently begun her modeling career, “loves fashion.”
Meanwhile, the Met has also tapped Lauren Sánchez-Bezos and Jeff Bezos as official sponsors of the star-studded evening.

Upon the announcement of the Amazon founder and former journalists’ roles in the event, Anna shared in a statement they’d make a “wonderful asset to the museum and the event.”
Adding of Lauren specifically in a statement to CNN, Anna noted, “We’re very grateful for her incredible generosity, so we’re thrilled she’s part of the night.”
And luckily, with invitations already sent out—the hard part is over for Anna. After all, she previously revealed she has no say in what stars wear on the Met steps.
"Many call and ask our advice,” she said during an appearance on Good Morning America last year, “so we try and help some of them as best we can. Some, no idea.”

The 2014 Met Gala went down in infamy thanks to a certain elevator ride starring Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Solange Knowles. Leaked surveillance footage showed the rapper being physically accosted by Bey's little sister in the lift at NYC's Standard Hotel while his wife made no move to intervene, prompting the notoriously private trio to release a rare public statement reassuring anyone who was interested (a.k.a., everybody) that they remained a "united family."
